What did Orgeron do to merit being LSU's coach?

He is 46 years old..Saban was 49 when LSU hired him

Sabans winning percentage before LSU - 62%

Kiffins winning percentage before LSU - 64%

not saying he is the next Saban, just posting facts and everyone loses 3-4 games a season...until they get to the right spot.

Our coaches have been the laughing stock of college football got the last 15 years. Why don’t we try getting a coach that doesn’t act like an idiot this time.

I thought it was just me.

Kiffin is Spurrier without the success.

Track record of great offense and job hopping.

Pass.

Sustainable excellence or bust. What Saban does, Kirby and Dabo have built, or don’t bother.

Not a good point. Where would he go after LSU? Not the NFL. Not Alabama. He’s a college coach through and through and he most likely would want to be here for awhile. Probably would only have to pay him 7-8m and he wants to beat Saban as bad as anyone.
Factor that in with the idea that there are no slam dunk hires out there with everything I said before and kiffin is a no doubter for the position we are currently in.

I don't know why Kiffin would be preferable to Sonny Dykes, actually.

Dykes has a much better record as a head coach and his offensive system is better.

Did you see the Ole Miss Tenn game! How awesome would it be to go to Ole Piss each year and occasionally Tenn and watch the melt! I’m in for the added entertainment level in addition to what I think he could do with LSU talent.

No he hasn’t. He had a mediocre year at Tennessee, but recruited well and they didn’t want him to leave.

The NCAA dropped a bomb on USC after he got there, but he still did good and firing him was a horrible mistake.

Won two conference titles in three years at FAU and has Ole Miss ranked with a Heisman candidate QB who was on the bench and likely to transfer before he got there.

He's probably the only coach I can get genuinely excited about coaching for LSU right now, Kiffin with LSU's talent would be a spectacle.

He went 10-2 his second year at USC.

But, yeah, he has gone 7-6 and 5-5 his two seasons in the SEC.

Kiffin’s winning percentage is currently 64%. Prior to getting the Florida job, Spurrier’s was 65%. Spurrier was about the same age as Kiffin is now when he got the Florida job.

This is very disingenuous. Those were his first years at Tennessee and Ole Miss, inheriting underperforming programs.

He obviously has Ole Miss going the right direction.

It's about projection. People see his offenses and believe he would be even more unstoppable given LSU's talent.

Sort of like Kliff Kingsbury getting an NFL job after likely being fired from Texas Tech.

I just don't know what DC he would bring in
