Whenever his kids are inches away from the finish line on an accomplishment, logan always takes the wheel back and either cuts them out or just kills the deal.
This.
He did that to Ken with his Vaulter acquisition in Season 1.
And now with Roman getting Gojo to the table.
Mattson doesn’t even consider dealing with Logan without Ken and Roman setting the table.
He lets the kids go out and do the relationship building then swoops in at the last minute to take the achievement away from them.
quote:
He tries to lead them but they're too soft.
Again. All his fault. He bullied them their whole lives and then wonders why they’re soft. They live in constant fear and PTSD.
The kids, however, are too tied to the lifestyle to walk away. Logan knows this which is why he continues to coddle them. He will not ever give up control to them which is fine. But he’s a sick, cruel man so he won’t actually say that to them. He enjoys stringing them along.

he never considered selling the company. He was honest in that. He didn't let Ken out because he wanted to teach him a lesson. Mattson provided a solution to a dying company and Logan as much as he doesn't want to do it has to. As he said in the episode "I always fricking win". Even selling the company he worked his whole life to build he wins.
I can’t escape thinking that Ewan and Greg will somehow get the last laugh. As awkward and unpolished as Greg presents himself, is it all a ruse and he’s covertly calculating his own takeover? I don’t buy his naïveté.

I'm probably missing something obvious here but what exactly did Tom get out of his move? If it's just screwing over Shiv, ok I get that.
But the company is sold, so what assurances did he get from Logan to make this as a business decision? Is it as simple as some sort of high ranking role after the buyout that Logan negotiated with Matson?
Not sure what I'm missing there.

He knows Logan will take care of him. He was willing to fall on the sword and go to jail. He also tipped Logan off to the only card the siblings had left with the super majority. He knows Logan won’t forget it and he’s taken care of. He chose the winning side, like he said he’s never seen Logan lose.
Plus he also got to frick over Shiv at the same time.
ETA: I thought it was an incredible season btw. Didn’t fall off one bit in my book.

So when exactly was the divorce agreement re-worked? Did Tom hop on the phone with Logan after Shiv let home know the plan? And then Logan call the mom?

frickin Rome is a sociopath and I love it.
I think Roman rocked and disappointed Logan with that pic. I think Logan believes Roman is the best business head of his kids. He gave Roman one last chance to come with. What did Logan mean when he told Roman Gojo (Mattiss) would “rate him”?

He's the head of the only thing printing money in the royco empire. He's valuable to Mattson. Tom has an opportunity to actually break away from the Roys once the merger goes through

I think that’s exactly what happened. When they left to see him it was sunny. They arrived at night time. Not unreasonable to think they had to drive a few hours to get there.

He's head of the transition team and the new CEO's right hand man

They were in Tuscany and drove to Lake Maggiore, which is on the border of Italy/ Switzerland. Got to be a few hours.

It's screwing over Shiv, but more importantly it's getting out of Shiv's shadow.
If the Roys were still in total control, then Shiv would always be "more powerful" in the company than Tom.
Here's an opportunity for him to make his own way to the top of the company without Shiv being above him.
There's no way the kids stay on in any major capacity after the attempted coup. MAYBE Roman, but definitely not Shiv or Kendall.
So while Shiv will obviously be stupid rich because of her shares, Tom will be an even HIGHER up exec in the company and no longer NEEDS her.
Hell, now he can divorce her and as long as Mattson thinks he's necessary then nothing would happen to him.

Remember also Tom’s line in Kendall’s bday party episode when Greg tells the guy in the hall of compliments “he did a lot of coke”
“Don’t say that I could be the head of a Fortune 500 company.”

So, I'm doing a first time binge of the entire series. I'm halfway through season 3.
Kendall is the most unlikeable piece of shite ever. I mean, the whole family is unlikeable, but I find myself really hating Kendall.
ETA: Of course I'm at the end of the birthday episode, and now I feel sorry for him.![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

I think it quite literally means Mattson will rate them to determine their value and if they'll be involved with the company

Mattson told Logan to his face with Roman there that Roman was integral to the takeover.

Yep which is what Kendall realized this season. He tried getting his siblings to see what he saw with their dad but they just couldn't get on board, until now obviously.
It took awhile to get there but the siblings vs dad is the most logical final storyline for the show.
