Fired “without cause” but

My gut tells me Woodward and admin had discovered more dirt on O. Pure speculation, no sauces but the awkward nature of all this is fishy. We all saw this day coming but how it’s actually transpiring, with CEO sticking around to finish out the year is just odd. Publicly this saves face to some degree. The buyout details rolling into 2025 makes the pill a little easier to swallow even tho $17M is still more than I thought LSU would have to pay if any of the title IX issues stuck to O.
I mean the way this is going down checks a lot of boxes from Woodward’s perspective and “fixes” some problems for the time being until a top tier HC can be vetted which further demonstrates Woodward’s competence as AD:
Lack of solid interim option - fixed
Recruit limbo - fixed
Even though O was fired without cause, I think the truth will come out with time.
Given how Woodward has handled everything this far, I’m really excited to see who we get as AD.

The termination agreement ends the employment. (more or less)
The new employment agreement which will be signed tomorrow is the only one that would be a problem. Why would you sign another employment agreement if you believe someone did something wrong?

Groundbreaking news

No, what happened was the “insiders” here and in the media who have been saying O would be fired for cause didn’t know what they were talking about.

You really do not want there to be dirt on O. You really just want a smooth transaction. So let it go.

No, if there was real dirt they couldn’t risk not firing him immediately because of the backlash if it got out and they didn’t fire him. This solidified that there is no serious dirt.

They still released all the dirt, but just hid behind it as “anonymous sources”. It’s a joke.

Or there really wasn't anything anyway, that is one possibility.

The stupid idiots out here were telling everyone they are holding back dirt on O. That's not working in good faith.
Hey, Coach O.... we don't want you now because you are losing, by the way we have these videos of you.
Imagine idiots never heard of blackmail.

So given how he has done so far, you can't wait to see who replaces Woodward?
BTW, if Woody had cause to fire Orgeron but instead kept him on until the end of the year, that would be a fireable offense for Woody.

He has more dirt than they do.

Immoral vs Illegal?

this financial move also keeps CEO on the LSU side during any upcoming legal maneuvers with Cregg and Title IX
which is a good thing

Pissing off boosters and hitting on their wives isn't legal cause to fire someone.
