How will not having O next year impact recruiting?

Depends on who we hire.

Our top guys are Louisiana guys.
Hopefully they wanna play for LSU.

There will be some. It’s inevitable. But necessary. Just keep the top guys like Howard and Campbell.

This will help recruiting; everyone knew Orgeron was a lame-duck coach.

You're gonna lose some, but you'll also potentially gain some from whomever you hire as coach. See: Jay Johnson or Kim Mulkey.

Also, with the transfer rule, there isn't a better time to change coaches. They can process players and fill needs in the same year. Expect the team to be back to usual form next season.

I think this is where Woodward made the right move. Keep him recruiting for LSU at least to the initial signing period. This way he's not at some place like Ole Miss trying to recruit his commitments away. Not saying they would leave but in a coaching change, having that continuity will matter.

Plus, the new coach may bring some talent with him.

Inevitability we'll have some decommitments, some who just don't like the change and even others who the new staff doesn't necessarily want. All in all I highly doubt we see some mass exodus. Hard to say how many exactly we see decommit due to this, but it doubt it's more than 5ish of the current commits...and not guys like Walker or Will.

Depends on who it is.

Franklin or Riley? Definitely.

Tucker or Napier? Definitely not.

I'd gladly take Kenneth Walker from MSU.

Anyone who thinks this is not going to kill recruiting is simply naive. We have a lame duck coach and other programs are going to feed off this. I understand why O had to be let go it just sucks for this 2022 class as it had a chance to be a top 3 class nationally.

I would love to have the calipari effect with this recruiting class. Get a top notch coach, and get big time commitments at the last minute

Pretty big doubt the hire will be finalized before December 15, depending on who it is. Talking less than 2 months from now already at this point to get someone not only hired but on board here to get guys re-recruited before ESD.

I think it happens before Dec 15th. That week of 27NOV- 4DEC.

It’s also why I think it is announced now & not weeks from now. The want to be ready to strike.

If the new coach is still coaching I think you could seemingly see Orgeron continue to recruit the new coaches class through that ESD

With the track record of O's past few recruiting classes half of them wouldn't be with the team by the time the season rolls around anyways. Wouldn't hurt to lose those guys now.

I think it's possible we make a hire before December 15th, I think it's extremely unlikely that hire will be here and recruiting for us before then.

If in fact Woodward is going after the big splash hire, it's usually extremely rare for a big splash type hire to abandon their team mid-season, NFL or college, and run to another job without finishing things out. Sometimes the school/franchise will want that person to move on if hired, but it's not the usual thing.

In the end really depends on who we get, but if it is in fact a big name, have a really hard time seeing them at LSU before Dec 15th to recruit for early signing period. Much more likely they will continue to coach out NFL season or finish out their bowl game in college before coming here.

Woody seems to have a plan in place. Some have said that he already has his guy.

You have zero idea at this point whether this will “kill” this class or not. With so many Louisiana recruits in this class I think it is most likely still a top 10 class. Probably 12-13th at worst but more likely 6th-9th. You disagree?
