I don't know their process, but there are usually a half dozen deadly agents near you in those process units.

He was in the unit right next to where this incident took place.

From the unit I’m hearing mentioned this is a likely suspect.

BASF makes MDI. Phosgene and Aniline are some man killers. If that is what got him/them, that’s a painful end for anyone. Prayers to all involved.

Phosgene
Yikes. Not the way i wanna go
quote:
Why is phosgene so dangerous?
Phosgene inhalation may cause initially symptoms of respiratory tract irritation, patients feel fine thereafter, and then die of choking a day later because of build up of fluid in the lungs (delayed onset non-cardiogenic pulmonary edema). Phosgene exposure is associated with significant morbidity and mortality.

That's for a light exposure, right?

High exposure i think
quote:
How long does it take for phosgene gas to work?
Following exposure to high concentrations of phosgene, a person may develop fluid in the lungs within two to six hours. Other effects that may appear up to 48 hours after contact, even if the person feels better or appears well, include the following: difficulty breathing. coughing up white to pink-tinged fluid.
