So many opinions … so many options … but what do you think is the successful DNA for the coach at LSU? Using the categories below, or add some if needed, assign the % of what you think is necessary to achieve success at LSU:

30% — Recruiter
15% — X’s and O’s
15 % — Motivator
5 % — Politics/Alumni
15% — Prior Experience
20% — Coordinator Selection

So many are great options for one or two areas, but not at others. It seems you have to know what you want and then go find the closest coach to what you desire. Don’t go for the flashiest option or the safest option.

I don't think there is an exact formula or number %.

It requires a lot of effort in all aspects though.

Knowing how to coach in general is important; which our current coach lacks..

I'd like it if the coach's DNA wasn't inserted into random blondes every month

The hire will be a good one....but it will be someone that is not discussed much here, IMO.

I think you need to be an expert in X's and O's and combine that with being a great executive leadership skills. Need to develop both players and coaches.

I think that's why Saban is so good. He put in place his system and now it just maintaining the process. He'll keep winning is he keeps his process going.

The recruiting, motivation, politics, etc all becomes way easier when you have a winner on the field.

This is somewhat my point in the OP: all these names of potential replacements are floated out there for one reason or another, but how many actually make sense when you break it down? There’s obviously no secret formula, but there are probably better qualified coaches out there if the fan base were willing to be patient and make an informed decision later rather then rushing to hire a “big name” coach this week.

X’s and O’s — yes, the HC should definitely have that in their DNA, but good coordinators can carry some of that weight.

Politics/Alumni — that’s a fan created problem, shouldn’t need to give too much time for that, but that’s damn sure not the case in LA. The new NIL rules are also something that any coach will now have to deal with.

Recruiting — There are several coaches that take lesser talent every year and coach them up. I’ll take one of those coaches and see what they can do with LSU talent … as long as the program can still draw the talent.

Again, bottom line is that the fans need to show some patience (which is not in their DNA) to pick a coach. Rash decisions will lead to nothing more than more misery.

Its not a proportional formula. You have to be intelligent, respected, and a good recruiter of both players and staff.

If you have had sustained success and consistently had your teams performing above their perceived capability (recruiting rank), then the X’s and O’s are a given.

I would be wary of those who have a history of embarrassing themselves and their school. None of us are without fault, but some are more disciplined than others when it comes to personal conduct.

Fifteen percent concentrated power of will
Five percent pleasure
Fifty percent pain
And a hundred percent reason to remember the name

I believe Gruden used the term “queer” … so you are safe.

Your post was unintelligent and gives the appearance of being written by a 13 year old, but I won’t Gruden you.
