My son lives in Cincinnati. I am up there a couple times a year and have developed a feel/liking for the place. They are absolutely in love with Joe Burrow.
Most folks in Cincinnati are OSU fans. UC has a local niche and is sort of riding a wave right now. But the last couple of times I have been in town, I have seen LSU t-shirts and flags randomly around town. People really, really like LSU up there.
Joe Burrow created a celestial bridge from Ohio to Baton Rouge. Corey Kiner crossed it. Luke Fickell realizes that he can win a championship in a place that has as many resources as Ohio State (perhaps more with SEC TV money). And people think he wouldn’t jump at it because his wife doesn’t like to move? Gimme a fricking break. The dude wants to win.
It will be Fickell. He will come. And he is the right guy to reestablish order, discipline, and winning habits at LSU.

I do not want Kiffin. For 16 years we have been stuck with coaches that are more “characters” than they are coaches. Just give me a normal dude that knows how to run a program. I don’t need a mad hatter, a shrimp boat capn, or Joey freshwater

I hope so. I think the vibe about him being a Big 10 guy is a little overblown. Opportunity is opportunity. Saban had no Southern connections when he came here, but he's done pretty well coaching in the south. He can hire or keep coaches with Louisiana/Texas/Florida connections. Plus he can go in and pluck a few big targets from the midwest and northeast.

Yeah but freshwater is a character than can run a serious fricking offense. Shrimpboat Capn cant call shite and Les just ran up the gut.

Miles @ LSU could not beat ND & Brian Kelly, but Fickle did!

I have lived in Dayton, Ohio for the last ten years with two spent in Cincy. They do not love LSU lol there are a few people here and there but the average OSU/B1G fan hates the SEC as a whole.
Hates them to the point that I've had people get visibly annoyed when they see me wearing LSU gear. frick Ohio Sate.

He’s making around $3.5M up there. His wife will most certainly come down for what LSU will be offering.

Fickell’s son is a freshman on the team.
Cincinnati will be joining the Big 12 the same time Oklahoma and Texas leave.
He played at Ohio State. His family is rooted there.
He’s not coming to LSU, and it’s not because he’ll turn LSU down, either.
ETA: to expand on this. Fickell isn’t the type of guy who is chomping at the bit to climb the ladder to the top.
