Grew up a prongs up guy but have shifted to being a dedicated prongs down adherent over the years. I'm no longer shoveling food into my mouth like a fricking vagrant that hasn't eaten in 3 days....unless I'm eating rice, there's no tines down possible when eating rice.

I think prongs down into mouth looks so tacky. No idea why.

If cutting then down, I think. What else would you do? Maybe I rotate it as I bring it to my mouth. Who thinks about this?

I was taught prongs down in my left hand, knife in your right by my home ec teacher in 9th grade.

I still do it that way.
