vs Liberty. Crazy to think just a few years ago they shut down the football program. Now here they are opening up their own 45,000 stadium. Good for the Blazers

Very nice, definitely a huge upgrade over Legion Field.

This is the type of investment that gets you invited into the AAC!! Good for UAB!!

Not only is this good for UAB...but this is good for the city of Birmingham. This stadium changes the view of the city and its skyline for the better.

A clear cut and aluminum bleachers is an upgrade over Legion Field

Maybe they will be able to draw a nice crowd now. The program is still largely irrelevant in Alabama.

ESPN, who controls the AAC schedule, would love to give UAB a couple of Thursday or Friday night games here to avoid Alabama/Auburn on Saturday. Imagine Navy or Boise State playing here. The place would be packed out.

No Auburn fans assured us UAB had millions of fans and Paul Bryant Jr merely wanted to ruin UAB

New stadium looks nice. Haven’t been through Birmingham in awhile, how’s the area around the new stadium? Legion Field is in Alabamastan basically.

Good improvement. Looks like this stadium is much closer to campus as well. I wonder if Birmingham is willing to pull the plug and go ahead and tear down Legion Field.

Not great just north of the stadium but there's a few things nearby to the South/West. It's right next to the BJCC and the SEC headquarters

They have but I think he’s there until he’s done unless Bama or Auburn come after him

New site for the Birmingham Bowl as well.

Wasnt that actually mostly because they actually started getting somewhat of a good share (for them) of the Birmingham market and the university of Alabama board (led by Bear Bryant’s son or grandson or whatever) basically came in and said not on our watch. For some reason I remember them shutting down being a little questionable and petty on the part of the university of Alabama.

Hopefully Birmingham has a development plan for around the stadium. You cant put a plan like that in place until the stadium is built. Now, with the stadium open, maybe the demand for hotels, bars and restaurants will help develop the area around the stadium and become an area people want to socialize at. All i know, is that i wouldn't happen otherwise. Good first positive step for both the football program and the city of Birmingham!!

I always like the look of a truncated stadium in an urban setting. The lower profile really fits in much better and allows clearer lines of sight instead of getting in the way like some concrete monstrosities.
