You're not gonna have a lot of high quality individuals sign up to play for a shrimp boat captain's used car salesman pitch.

Stingley and Kayvon Thibodeaux would be the top 2 from the class by a wide margin in a re-rank. That alone would bring us up a lot

Not trying to be super negative, as we have a lot of ball ahead of us and a lot to play for....

But, this is a trend during the coach O era. Look at the 2018 class, its ugly. We have to evaluate, develop and retain better or we will always have depth issues.

Good post. Lots of off the field issues with a lot of these guys. Some guys may come around, but still this much talent that has produced so little production after 2019. Some of these guys we might have chalked up at the time as bad luck or bad timing or the kid messed up but it’s sad to see the culture of the program is the common factor here.

I think a lot of it has to do with us winning the championship their first year. There seems to be a lot of entitlement in that group. Also who can you point to in that class as the vocal leader?

Also you conveniently left off three starters in Cade York, Jay Ward, and Cordale Flott…one of which is the best kicker in LSU history.

Definitely more of a development issue than evaluation. Everyone keeps knocking the coaches for the recruiting aspect with poor evaluation but remember those kids chose to come here. If they wouldn't have chosen LSU they would of signed with other top notch programs like bama and so on. If it is an evaluation issue, then it is an evaluation issue with the major programs and the recruiting portals also

I wonder if the carousel of assistant coaches also contributed to this

The transfers are what’s hurt this class the most. Ika has been a stud at Nose for Baylor this year and was good at LSU when he played. Imagine him pushing the pocket from the inside with Roy or Maason. Brooks was set to be potentially a breakout star on this defense as a sophomore and then left and went to TCU and plays WR where he has amassed a grand total of 2 catches for 16 yards since he’s been there. Hampton isn’t even playing football anymore after being a starter for us at safety as a sophomore and a rotational piece at safety in the 2nd half of his freshman season. Then Emery now ineligible. It sucks that it’s played out this way and honestly atleast 2 of those transfers were preventable. It’s crazy to think that we may have really only gotten a year and a half total out of Orgerons 2 top recruits since he’s been here Stingley and Gilbert

Blame Miles.
As we all know, Orgeron is the greatest recruiter, talent evaluator and player developer in college football history.

12 outstanding recruits, and only one has made an impact, and that was 2 years ago. This completely falls on the coaching staff.

All dem stars and stingley is the only who has contributed and that was dam two years ago Even still A NC O should have been able to cherry pick talent from around the country and yet he has not. The misses on LB and Oline will sink O.

Idk how you even put Stingley in there when he was banged up most of last year and the defense was a wash as a whole

This is eye-opening to say the least. I don’t know how this has 4 downvotes unless it’s O, Derrick, Ree, and one of O’s sons. They’re either getting talented kids with low character or talented kids that they can’t develop. But these are talented players - there’s no way the recruiting services missed on that many.

Makes you wonder what the hell goes on in the locker room. Where is the leadership? Did these players have warning flags that were disregarded due to star ranking.

If I had to guess, a large portion of them fall in line here.

We all hope to be at a point where we just recruit to reload....but we're not there yet, and it appears we're just getting any 5* we can, and hope they pan out, until we eventually have so many we can replace\reload. We're not there. Not many teams are.....but it feels like we get the brunt of the busts\problem children.
