So was Anne Boleyn.
And obviously...

But more importantly, I think this is a terrible argument. Take Superman for instance. He's been around in the public consciousness for 80+ years. Nearly everyone on the planet knows him. If asked to close your eyes and describe him physically, nearly everyone could give you an almost perfect description of what he looks like as a person and what his costume looks like. They could tell you where he's from, tell you about Kryptonite, they likely know his human name Clark Kent, etc. He's SO recognizable that REAL PEOPLE are often times described as "looking like Superman."
So...why does the fact that he's not now and never has been a living breathing person matter when it comes to his portrayal? Changing his race, sex, personality or even costume amounts to altering the very memory we all have of the character. The fact that he was never real is not relevant here, as we all share the same distinct knowledge about him as we do of any real person. It's why it makes no more sense to make Clark Kent a black man in a red costume than it would to make MLK a white man. We all KNOW it's incorrect.

No. I'm under the impression that these kinds of statements are trial balloons that have, most recently, ultimately come to pass as studios have universally attempted to go further and further into social justice and "equity and diversity" moves. Most studios have actually released their mission statements on this very issue which have been linked here, so I'm not sure why this is even a debate.
Then you are dumb and believe in conspiracy theories. It's a gay actor saying he'd like a gay actor to play James Bond in an interview with a UK gay magazine (which I'm sure zero of you did the research to find out). It's not a trial balloon by the studio.

More like pathological paranoia with some people seeing "woke" in everything.*
Whishaw has most likely been prodded by the interviewer to answer a clickbait question. The interview is written up like it's a spontaneous, organic question. This has been done in a ton of publicity interviews since the beginning of time. None of these celebrities on these publicity junkets have any greater ambition than to fulfill their contractual obligation to promote the movie so that they can receive their paycheck.
*(And yes, the Marxist woke are also paranoid and prone to irrationality, seeing the bogeyman in everything. My going theory is that the woke and anti-woke have become mirror opposites of each other.)

They asked a gay dude if he thinks a gay actor could take on the Bond role. Of course he’s gonna say yes, and he’d be right. Bond being straight doesn’t require a straight actor to play him.
What an incredibly boring and stupid question, though.

Exactly. Another hypocrite with an agenda.

Fine...
Disney's Equity and Inclusion Plans
Amazon Studio's Equity and Inclusion Pledge
They all have them. There is no conspiracy theory. They announce their plans...why refuse to take them at their own words?

It's a societal trial balloon. While it may only be his personal desire to see this, studios will gauge how receptive "social media" is to this sort of thing. Since it will receive no push back on line, it will be seen as a viable option moving forward.
I guess the thing I'm most surprised about is the left's unwillingness to simply claim victory, spike the football and do a touchdown dance here. Why the need to gaslight everyone into thinking there has not been a massive lurch to the left in regards to these topics within the studios even just in the past several years? Everyone can literally see it with their own eyes...what is to be gained by pretending everyone is crazy that bothers to point it out?

Maybe you should spend more time making better jokes and less time researching autism.

College Sports analogy: The left it texas university at Austin. It's not enough to win, they have to manipulate systems to attempt to prevent those they hate from winning too. It doesn't always work and has hilarious results when it fails.

Really? So does the rock you live under have a postal address, or are you just squatting?
Because it's not like we don't have current examples of retarded hollywood pandering to demographics in regards to the historical/tradtional roles of the characters they plaid.
Annie
Wonder Years
Ghostbusters
Ocean's 15
Keep pandering to the retarded. I'll continue to laugh as the pedo's in hollywood continue to lose money and wonder why.

Dear fricking god this is stupid.
Can we see a film where Rev Dr MLK is played by a Chinese Muslim while Malcolm X is played by a white woman?

All franchises that had no business continuing onward from where the original cast left off, so of course Hollywood was desperate for an angle to sell the rebooted versions.
That’s all that was. A marketing gimmick. Not a grand woke conspiracy.
And Oceans 8 and Ghostbusters (2016) failed at the box office. Notice how the planned sequels were cancelled. The market will do the correction.

Haven't seen that one. The Ocean's 8 chick heist movie was pretty good, though.

We already had Daniel Craig as Bond. Isn't he gay enough?

I just dont understand how a gay bond would be "progress" as he called it
Progress to what?
Progress to what?
