LSU has played some good offensive minds so far this year… Kelly, shark fricker, and leach aren’t slouches.

bullshite. Watch Bama last year. Teach your kids the proper technique and you'll be fine. Bama played their regular man up defense not some scared gimmick defense against State last year and didn't give up a single point. Miss St offesne is mediocre as fvck and for some reason our fanbase thinks they're the 2000 Rams. It's pathetic.
You're continuing to die on this hill and are just flat out wrong. Alabama played a lot of zone in the game. In fact, Todd Blackledge (who called the game) commented on it multiple times. On the VERY FIRST MSU drive he said: "We're going to see Alabama play a lot more zone than we're accustom to". Later he mention (after Alabama rushed 3 and dropped 8): "On that play Alabama only rushed 3, dropped back into a zone, and came up to make the tackle which is what teams have been doing against this MSU offense ever since the LSU game."
Now, Alabama would blitz and/or bring more guys when MSU got deeper into Alabama territory OR when they could get MSU into 3rd and long. But LSU did the same thing (though less blitzing). When MSU got inside the 20 or when LSU got MSU in a 3rd and long they would bring in a 4th DL.
The difference between Alabama was personnel...not scheme. Alabama had much better LBs and safeties than LSU has now. Which means they were able to hold MSU to 3-4 yard gains on the underneath passes while those same passes vs. LSU went for 5-7 yard gains. Clark, Baskeville and the safeties were slower to react than Alabama's were in that game. Thus, Alabama was able to rush more on 3rd and long while LSU rarely got MSU in 3rd and long.
SAME approach. Their player just executed it better.

Terrible coaching. The amount of mental breakdowns should not be happening at a school with LSU's talent. Ed is the only person to blame for this crap.

Lol, I love how you can just post this hoping it's true when in reality that's not what happened.
how dumb are you? from the advocate..

Orgeron said the coaching staff began thinking about a 3-2-6 scheme the day after the loss. They saw Arkansas use the look to beat Mississippi State a week later. They studied the Razorbacks’ defense and others who had success against the Air Raid.
"I don’t think they expected us to be in a three-man front," Orgeron said, smiling. "We had never shown it."

Like a previous poster said, coverage busts are a part of the game. It's just about limiting those bust. Against UCLA they had 3, Central Michigan starters gave up 1, State they had 2 on 80+ plays. That's 6 I counted in 4 games, they had 6 just in the Missouri game.

I remember plenty of.Miles’ teams that didn’t have coverage busts every game.

Even with the elite tandem of Ricks and Stingley, “LSU ranks 84th in allowing 237.5 passing yards per game.”
are you really elite at 84th ? I would think not.

LSU was Mizzou. Even OMs and Vandys garbage defenses held them.
And they dropped 8, didn't they?

Its the incredible head scratcher, breakdowns with that talent.

So why don't people jump Corey Raymond? Is it possible that he is a man-to-man coach, because he cannot coach zone? If so, he should learn just like the head coach should learn.

Stingley won’t be back to play. With the news that they flew somewhere to get a second opinion my guess is they were told surgery. Sting Sr said they didn’t want to do surgery so I’m guessing that’s why they are getting a second opinion because it wasn’t good. His dad even said if is surgery he won’t be back.

Dude shut the frick up. It’s a new scheme with new players in it. You idiots keep calling to fire coaches will have the exact same results when he brings in a new scheme snd you’ll have excuses for it because you got your way, like a little child. When Aranda first got here we had lots of mistakes but by year 3 those mistakes were minimized.
For a first year coach this D is performing well. We’re getting sacks and TOs. When it all comes together in year 3 it’ll be dynamic. The offense will be a force by that time also. The job of the HC is to win games until those coaches have a foothold, Ed O is winning games so until he isn’t, please go hide under your rock and let the big boys make the decisions!

Busts will happen much more often with new coaches and schemes but as they progress with the defense they become less and less. That’s why you don’t see them with pro teams near as much and when you do see them, it’s typically a new player or new coach that has contributed.
I hate to break this to everyone but LSU would have been fine with Pelini's scheme by year 3, maybe even by this year. Remember that we didn’t have any practices last year, we had a new scheme, new players and the SEC was much more of a veteran league. Bo didn’t all of a sudden forget how to coach. There were spurts in our defense that played really well, that was when his scheme was played correctly. When it is, it’s a very good one.
People and LSU fans particularly love to place blame on one individual when it’s the entire team at fault. I’m good with the change because I think the players will respond to the new coach faster but calling for more heads isn’t the answer. Letting this team develop is what is needed. We need consistency!

It’s the safeties and linebackers more so than the corners.
Yeah same shite as last year when Raymond was in charge and didn’t have a real coach providing a blanket.
People will one day realize the defensive backfield problem is 2 fold. O switching to the 4-3 and Corey Raymond lacking X’s and O’s Schematics from a coaching perspective. He won’t be a DC or if he does soon, he will flame out.

This would explain LSU’s numerous busted plays for two years.

Position coaches typically don't scheme. His job is to teach the technique the DC wants and recruit. Trying to blame a guy who's been nothing but successful at LSU is retarded. The DC who coached LBers last year had shitty LBs. The current DC who coaches safeties has shitty safeties. Both are/were in over their heads.
