According to The Advocate paper, “LSU secondary is continuing to work on coverage busts.” Noting that “Mississippi State scored two touchdowns on missed assignments.” Even with the elite tandem of Ricks and Stingley, “LSU ranks 84th in allowing 237.5 passing yards per game.”

Also noted in the BR paper that “Stingley status remains uncertain”, unknown whether surgery or rehab is required on his foot. The Stingley’s will be visiting a doctor this week seeking a second opinion. In the paper Coach O noted that Dwight McGlithern has performed well in Stingley’s absence, but as a secondary “we need to eliminate mental errors that are causing touchdowns. We’re still having those.”

It’s the safeties and linebackers more so than the corners.

If it’s bad enough, just play man coverage the whole time. At least they’ll know who the hell to cover.

Au contraire mon fraire.

You don’t play man exclusively against MSU

That would likely have given Miss St the win.

Do you remember last year against Moo State? This is the strategy Pelini took and we got destroyed. Pelini didn't make one adjustment and receivers ran wide open all game long.

Wasn't Jones a Secondary coach for Vikings?

Seems like this should be fixed

Yeah, I doubt even the Advocate wrote that the “Stingley’s” are doing anything.

bullshite. Watch Bama last year. Teach your kids the proper technique and you'll be fine. Bama played their regular man up defense not some scared gimmick defense against State last year and didn't give up a single point. Miss St offesne is mediocre as fvck and for some reason our fanbase thinks they're the 2000 Rams. It's pathetic.

Which team doesn’t ever have coverage busts? Which team doesn’t work to eliminate coverage busts?

I watch college and pro games all weekend and seldom do I watch a game and not see coverage busts. We aren’t the only tess as m heading up. All the others do.

FWIW, I think we have improved in that area and as the season goes on I think we will continue to improve, but the way things are now you will never eliminate all busts.

Well their QB threw for 623 yards last season. Anyway, it’s the system…and historically rush 3/drop 8 is the blueprint for CONTAINING the air raid. You need an elite scheme/coaching and players to shut it down in man. LSU certainly didn’t have that with Zombie Bo last year

Not true. You're just repeating stupidity from this board. Just because LSU cannot stop Leach's garbage offense, it doesn't mean every other team has a hard time stopping it. Literally the only team they blew up last year other than LSU was Mizzou. Even OMs and Vandys garbage defenses held them.

Or years and years of big12 and PAC defenses doing what they had to do to contain it.

Not true.

Memphis played zone and many teams in Pac 12 played zone against that offense.

Lol, I love how you can just post this hoping it's true when in reality that's not what happened.

Here’s last season’s egg bowl. Ole Miss is basically using the same game plan we just used. Zone between the 20s/shift to 4 man front in the red zone
