Pay, hours, is it a competitive job market, etc. (Live in Louisiana)

If you are one or know someone that is one.

I already asked this but it didn't seem to get any traction.

I hear it’s electric. Real shocking how much people get paid. I’m currently looking to switch. Just need to conduct my efforts accordingly

It has the capacity to be a good job, although there is some resistance into field entry.

The need for workers is amplified by the current state of the market.

I wouldn’t ask the boss man, he’ll probably blow a fuse.

As a contractor wages in 30’s. Mid to high 40’s as a plant employee in Louisiana.
Also, you’ll learn how to work with meggers.

Is that in yearly salary or $/hr. Would want the OP to get his wires crossed.

It's mostly steady with mostly new construction. You wont be doing trouble shooting. One day you might be 1,2,3 pull pulling wire, the next day terminating a control panel off wiring diagram. I worked with a bunch of industrial electricians when I set up cable tray and light supports. It's not a bad job but you will mostly be working in the elements. If you get on a with big outfit the benefits are pretty good but be prepared to travel.

Pretty cushy gig, try to stay grounded when you start generating all of that juice.

I&E baws do pretty well for themselves in the plants. Don’t be LED astray. If you get on with a plant you can expect pay in the 40+hr range. Lots of I&E usually only work days, and call out on a rotation. Plenty of OT, and can easily make over 100k a year.

Once you make the circuit as a journeyman electrician you might be able to use that as a conduit to start your own business. Just don’t blow a fuse if it doesn’t happen overnight.

I feel like being an electrician will always be a good gig. Contractors are always looking for good electricians.

Pay is $45 to $50/hr. If you want to get on with a plant and have a few years, get with a contractor in maintenance and you'll have a good shot.
