How many here have gotten sick, but haven't taken a Covid test?

Just curious? My daughter stayed home sick from school Friday. She had the usual cold symptoms like a runny nose and a slight temperature around 100. She didn't want to go get tested, and she felt better the next day, so I didn't make her.
Now I have a sore throat and runny nose. My wife keeps telling me to go get tested and I asked her why? "So you'll know", she said. But what would knowing matter? So far, it's a mild cold, nothing more. Not sure I want to be in their database, just "to know"?

There’s very little value to know for certain that you have Covid.

Yep they will send you home after confirmation. Also I would not trust the testing. Even when they were using the PCR you had to select what you were testing, which is odd to me.

Last weekend of January 2020, I had a severe chest cold. Only had a fever for a day or two, just a couple of degrees at most. Never had any problems like losing smell or even much achiness, but I was surprised it lasted for like three weeks. Probably was just a random chest cold, but I did not take any prescriptions, just over the counter stuff.
Nobody I worked with has gotten Covid19 either. I only missed one day of work.

Both daughters have been sick totally 4 times since March 2020. Currently the youngest can't smell, she thinks it's allergies. None of us have ever been tested nor will we.

Last fall I got what felt like a head cold. Lost my sense of taste and smell for about 4 days. Didn't have much in the way of fever but felt a little run down. That was about it so I never got tested.

i had a sore throat, runny nose and felt pretty bad....went to my family doctor and got an antibiotic shot and prescription for z pack...it took more than a week but eventually i felt better...i was very surprised that the doctor did not check for covid...in fact other than asking me if i was vaccinated, it wasn't mentioned....

Just like I've never been tested for the flu, there's no reason to submit to a covid test "to know". Chances are you're over it before you'd even get the results.
Only somewhat advantage is being able to prove you have natural immunity ... but that's only if they acknowledge that it is better than the vax and a suitable substitution.

It would be nice to know you have anti-bodies, but you are right. Its not like they actually attempt to treat COVID, so what's the point of getting a diagnosis? Just stay home, hydrate, and bomb your system with Vitamins and Zinc.

What difference does knowing make. If you test positive or you going to the hospital?
Keep your distance from people till you feel better

Yep it seems like z pack and vitamins are working really well. OP can use online doctor without a test and get a zpack, wife did that at urgent care without a covid test surprisingly.

One thing is clear. Your wife is the brains of the operation.

Me.
I don’t see the point. It would either cost me time by taking the test or money by staying at home.

I planned on getting tested until I lost my taste and smell.
I ended up not getting tested, bc I figured at that point I knew it was covid.

Checking in.
Of course I lost taste and smell, so did not really need a test at that point.
Giving blood later on confirmed anti-bodies
