Making this paint really reflective, however, also made it really white, according to Purdue University. The paint reflects 98.1% of solar radiation while also emitting infrared heat.

It can reduce the need for air conditioning but not eliminate it.
Having that paint means that you aren’t picking up radiated energy because you are reflecting it but doesn’t do much about conduction or convection.
You didn't read. There are already radiant paints on the market as I said in the OP. They claim this one is different and actually cools surfaces too. They claim it can cool an area to below surrounding temperatures. They are saying it is more than a radiant blocking paint and functions as an A/C.

I don't see how this addresses humidity and ambient temps. If the air is 100 degrees, how does this help? Are we also supposed to paint our exterior walls this color? The sun shines on more than the roof.
Perhaps this is really an energy-mitigation play, where your AC only works half as hard. I'm guessing if the entire US south could drop their AC consumption even 10% that's a huge deal.
I'm still very interested as I love fresh air and prefer not to be sealed off from the outdoors.

I would like to get radiant barrier installed...can you recommend someone in the BR area

Yeah, sign me up to breathe this shite in all day.
Ill put that on my to do list.
Right behind getting vaccinated.

Of course it’s white paint. Would expect nothing less from racist science
Unless it’s climate science. That is set in stone and unimpeachable

Not a physicist, but I have stayed at a Holiday Inn. Isn't this one step away from a perpetual motion machine?

The one in the article is an exterior coating

Wouldn’t this just reflect more heat back into the the atmosphere and increase “global warming”? Same problem caused by concrete heat islands in cities.

In theory it should work in regards to radiant heat, but that paint is going to do nothing once the first layer of pollen hits it.

How much climate change do you think is man-made vs natural?
Mostly natural.
I didn’t say it would necessarily work. I’m just not going to make fun of trying. Geoengineering is a real, albeit slightly frightening, field of study.
Painting our roofs white seems less fraught with unknown side effects than manufacturing clouds.

How is it going to work when the entire roof is covered with solar panels?

That is a legit question. Tesla's solar roof is probably the best radiant barrier there is it covers more of the roof than mounted panels.

This is fanciful, but I’m all for ideas to mitigate the warming climate that don’t include trashing the economy.
I'm not. Another ice age is gonna hit before the planet gets too warm. We need to be raising temps.

And when all the roofs are painted white and that radiation gets reflected back into the sky, then what???
