I'd like to see something more than a tweet. Can't find anything to corroborate this anywhere.

This is unlikely to be true IMO. They’re too reliant on govt contracts.

Gut feeling is there’s no way this is true.
General Dynamics ceases to exist without Fed dollars.

Perhaps, but GD also ceases to exist without 40% of its workforce, especially if that percentage are the high skilled professionals. The outcome remains to be seen! I'm rooting for them.

On the flip side, who is going to produce the stuff GD does?
Unlike a truck, there are not many options when it comes to nuke subs and M1 tanks.

Biden is flat out going to get his arse handed to him on this private employer mandate
Well, the really ballsy move here is that General Dynamics is not really a "private" employer. They supply ordnance to the Department of Defense. Lots of explosives. They are an extension of the Federal Government, to some extent.
Sorry, I see everyone already touched on this. They are a big presence in the area so I was actually following their response closely. I'm as surprised as anyone, but the thing is that a lot of their employees aren't really high-level technical specialists...they are just everyday joes who work in the factory. Those guys can somewhat easily just work for someone down the street, and I don't think General Dynamics can do much to keep production up without the stiffs.

It's really starting to look like an enormous miscalculation.

These contractors have ENORMOUS leverage. Those dollars to get pulled or moved easily. For example. Boeing builds the Apache. Sure. We could pull that from them if we were pissed at them and shift it to someone else...........but the government would get arse raped financially in the process because some other contractor would have to ramp up practically from scratch.
The same goes for GD. At some point, they're so intertwined with a given system that the government is effectively bound to them.

Up till now, even before Biden...........the ONLY reason all the bullshite "worked" was because people didn't say "no".
The reality is that if even 1 in 10 people who opposed the government crap on COVID simply refused to comply, it would have all crumbled. There aren't enough cops in the world to trespass that many people from businesses. And, if like a third of the shut down busiensses simply said "frick you", the government couldn't have enforced that shite either.
The question has always been, what point is the tipping point where people finally say, "frick you". Looks like Biden has found it
