To be fair, when this happened was more than a couple years ago- the fbi had more credibility then (even though they shouldn't have)

I’m actually mildly concerned about my true feelings of what I would do to someone who raped my wife, daughter, or granddaughters. I have zero doubt I would kill the perpetrator if given the opportunity, what concerns me is how much I would try to make him suffer, and that I would want to rip his scrotum off and shove it down his throat before he died.

But given these dudes are in jail, it would take a lot of work to pull off and is more than likely an automatic jail sentence. When the victim/daughter is still alive, at some level you have to think about what is best for your daughter. If this dude is going to jail forever is your daughter really better off if you kill him and now you have to go to jail and aren't there for her?
Now if some crazy crminal wiped out your entire family and you feel you have nothing else to live for, that would certainly change the narrative and maybe your willingness to do something like that since you wouldn't have a family that needs you if you went to jail.
