At best, he was attempting to muddy the waters to worm his way out of being caught. Democrats are highly skilled at saying a whole bunch of bullshite that can be claimed as something else later when someone is hot on the trail of their misdeeds. It’s impressive actually.

Lying to the US Senate is a crime.

Anthony Fauci did not kill himself

I hate Fauci but seems like he was able to play a cheap semantic trick around the definition of "gain of function" and try to get off on a technicality
Fauci originally redefined GOF to get around restrictions, and in doing so, he ABSOLUTELY funneled money to the WIV supporting GOF work there. The POS needs to be strung up!

I hate that little weasel Fauci bastard. He's got blood on his hands.

Agree, well agree that it used to be. Rand Paul can't arrest anyone though. And I was responding to the 'well do something about it' comment instead of bitching. Rand Paul is doing his part.

Yep, do something about it, or shut up.
Paul is like Gowdy. ...all talk.

Now why in the frick would you do a thing like that?

He keeps stating that this isn't technically "gain of function" when it seems to me that is exactly what they are researching. He stated that it would be irresponsible not to study the transmisability of SARS viruses but he wasn't supporting "gain of function" i.e. genetically altering the virus to weaponize it.
Some of this research, to this layman, is definetely dual purpose. It was stopped and restarted by the NIH (Fauci) after 2017 as it was deemed to have valuable benefits. The research would seem to me to have benefits but also could be used for nefarious purposes like bio weapons.
At a minimum he is negligent in trusting the ChiComs and his lack of oversight into exactly what was going on in that lab and the fact that its safety protocols were suspect. He advocated for re-stating this research and signed off on the grant that funded this research in Wuhan.
He owns this as much as anyone

Using viruses as a gene delivery system is nothing new. Adenovirus, Lentivirus and adeno-associated viral vector systems are commonly used in research and have been tested/explored for clinical applications such as alpha 1 antitrypsin deficiency and other genetic disorders. So there is an argument to be made for the value of such research.
A point made earlier that such a technology could be weaponized is certainly a possibility.
I have yet to see credible evidence of that with COVID19. I do think there is a reasonable suspicion that the lab was studying the virus and lost control of it. We know that's a formal possibility. We have BSL 2 and 3 lab designations and practices to avoid such events, but that doesn't mean they were followed or that the investigators were aware of just how transmittable this strain is.

Indict him for perjury.
Arrest him.
Arrest him.

According to the report, almost $600,000 of that federal moneywas partially used by the WIV to find and alter bat coronaviruses that could jump to humans and infect them.
Is anyone not catching this part? Is it just a coincidence that we have a coronavirus with a spike protein that somehow jumped to humans?

So damn sick of this ' He did things which are really serious!!! " and then nothing happens.
Under what authority?

Contact your reps and have them take a stand like Paul. Why don’t YOU actually do something to help the man out.

It all seems to be by design- doesn’t it?

The Chinese military was teaching about it as a means of attacking the west (USA) iirc.
Sky News Australia did a shorty on it. Let me see if I can dig it up.

Found it:

Documents reveal China discussed weaponisation of coronaviruses prior to pandemic May 08, 2021 - 00:29AM
Top scientists outlined their ideas in the document predicting a third world war would be fought with biological weapons.

I would argue that they knew.
Why else would the following occur?
China ‘purged’ COVID-19 data once it realised the full scale of global pandemic
quote:
Leaked data from the Wuhan Institute of Virology has indicated the Chinese Communist Party “purged” the database to drastically alter the country’s real COVID-19 figures according to former cyber security contractor Robert Potter.
quote:
“Once the story became quite a bit contentious, (and) when the Chinese Communist Party realized that the coronavirus was going to become a global pandemic, they went about purging the data.”

The problem is if a virus gets out, it can, you know, kill millions of people. So there is an argument to be made against that type of research.

Fairly robust argument can be made that viral-based research has killed more people than it’ll save in 100 years.
