Taysom has never shown the ability to run the ball when it’s not a designed run.

He can’t make a quick read or process info even comparable to an NFL backup. Lastly, the fact that he never runs, even in the games he started, speaks to his lack of pocket awareness and instincts. You are blind as frick if you watch that dude throw and can’t think of 50 Qb’s you would start over him. If he had the instincts to run and use that weapon, it may be a different scenario, but what’s the point of starting a freak athlete at QB if he won’t do the “athlete” part.

If Lamar Jackson didn’t want to run the ball after his first or second read was covered, he would not be a starting QB and that’s a guy with 10x the processing speed of Taysom.

I get it that Taysoms white, but the problem is that he sucks at playing QB in the body he has. How anyone thinks that dude is good at QB is mind boggling to me.

i've been reading daily reports by most writers who have pretty much detailed every pass thrown in camp thus far. Its been a lot of back and forth, not a lot of separation thus far.

That's actually what I gather from reading the practice reports as well.

They make it sound like it's a close battle

has nothing to do with Taysom abandoning or Payton forcing the abandonment of his running style into his play as qb.

Taysom is the one taking snaps & playing with the ball in his hands, not Payton. Taysom is the one who looks jittery in the pocket, not Payton. Taysom is the one holding on to the ball too long, not Payton.

i was critical of payton handicapping taysom in others.

Yet no blame on Taysom for his own lack of development in a QB friendly offensive system? Got it. This melt has been entertaining to say the least.

it goes one of two ways:
payton "look taysom, i don't want you running around out there taking hits. stay in the pocket, no scrambling around"
or
payton "why the hell didn't you run on that taysom? take off next time, do your thing you had a first down all day long"

either way, zero designed runs for taysom in 9 drives thus far. No drives with armstead/ramczyk.

appears to be allowed to run on scrambles.

You really think SP told Taysom to sit in the pocket too long and take sacks (hits) versus moving the chains. Take off the Mormon colored glasses man

Taysom has been dealt a shite deck in this competition so far.

Last week you said that Taysom knew he was QB1 already. Which is it???

looking like a sabotaging of a competition if jameis gets named. otherwise, yes, i'd say taysom would be doing everything in his power to move the sticks, complete passes and make the team successful.

I think that he has a horrible time adjusting after his first read and he’s trying to prove to someone that he’s a pocket passer and not running when he needs to

so why hasn't payton addressed this with him in the 3 weeks of camp? why isn't payton being proactive in telling Taysom and giving permission for him to run when he feels needed? Why no designed run plays for taysom? 4th and 2 yesterday was a gimme run for Taysom to the edge all day long.

And it wasn’t just in this preseason. He did it last year in his starts too. He held onto the ball for too long. He would usually take off and run if it was a designed run play or he got pressured right after the snap. Otherwise he sits in the pocket even if it’s starting to collapse. Despite being a running QB, he doesn’t have good pocket awareness or mobility.

his pocket awareness is fine. he's got a coach that has a ball and chain around his legs right now.

This is just fricking stupid.

You are the only one that thinks SP is holding Taysom back. Just stop man. It’s obvious that he’s just not a good QB. Plain and simple.
