Our Rt is barely above 1. It's at 1.07 down from 1.10 yesterday. They blame our lack of vaccinations and lack of mandates for how bad it is. Well, the Rt is much worse in New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Oregon, Washington, California, Hawaii, and Illinois. These are all states that have the most severe measures in place.
The news about Mississippi is complete bullshite. Once the Rt drops below 1 this week, cases will begin to fall.

Red state full of neanderthals doesn't stand a chance in the MSM.

Rt obviously doesn’t matter anymore. Louisiana politicians don’t care about that metric anymore.

Truth be told, what I hear from the media is that everything is bad in Mississippi.

The casinos in Biloxi are okay. You get “free” drinks unlike the Indian casinos.

They specifically cited the Rt when reinstating the mask mandate
Two weeks later once it peaked they switched Total # of hospitalized

Ok you dumb motherfricker, here goes.
The Rt value rose above 1.0 on June 14. It hit an apex of 1.50 on July 15. It has fallen substantially since then but it is still at a very troubling 1.3 last Friday. That was near the peak Rt value for the July 2020 and January surges. It is 1.07 yesterday BUT that is the same level when cases began to rise in the previous surges. It needs to be below one AND STAY THERE.
Case numbers rose to an unprecedented 5,021 patients August 12. Hospitalizations and ICUs are at record levels as well.
If Rt is any indication, the situation may get even worse over the next few days or weeks until Rt finally falls below 1.0.
The December-January surge easily surpassed the the July 2020 outbreak. Rt began to climb on October 11, 2020 and peaked twenty days later at 1.13. That value may not seem that much but it remained at that level for three weeks. It finally subsided below 1.0 around Christmas.
The lower but longer Rt value meant the Covid-19 outbreak swamped Mississippi's hospitals and ICUs. Average deaths peaked at 47 per day while some individual days saw nearly sixty deaths.
Rt has been above 1.0 for the Delta surge for over two months. Based on the data of the earlier surges, we are weeks or even a month away before the surge substantially subsides.

I haven't compared the numbers, but it seems to be spreading a lot faster than it has previously - but it just didnt seem bad before.
I do think the numbers will start to fall pretty rapidly in the next couple of weeks.

Hey how about a quick unscientific poll for the Covid skybscreemers:
From what do think you have a greater chance of dying:
Upvote: Result of a crime in an urban area
Downvote: COVID

You don’t know what you’re talking about.

If Rt is above 1 at all, cases are predicted to go up. Your Rt is trending down, but it has to get below 1 before you will see cases start to decline.
Just FYI, here is Louisiana from today with a few of my notes on it:

Lots of covid means lots of freedom I consider that to be a good thing
