Converting from gas to electric, I think

Currently have gas water heater, which has not broken down. But I hate having to relight pilot every few months (little complaint), but really hate having limited hot water at night for showers. Has anyone converted from gas to electric? Happy or not really? How much did it cost?

I thought this was a thread about you deciding to buy that ugly arse EV Toyota.

If you’re converting from gas to electric hoping to have more hot water you’re gonna have a bad time

If so, get a good generator, bub.

Why do you have to keep relighting the pilot? That’s unusual. I’ve lived in my house for close to 10 years and have had to do it one time.

You shouldn’t have to if it’s working right.

I think your real problem is that your pilot light is busted. It shouldn’t have to be relit.

You will be greatly disappointed. I had an all electric house once and it sucked. I try to make sure my major appliances such as furnace, fireplace, stove, and hot water heater are all natural gas.

I've had both gas and electric water heaters, and if you have a large enough capacity, either one is fine to me. installing an electric unit is pretty simple. If you install yourself, you will only be out the cost of the unit(about 400 bucks?), plus a few changes in the fittings probably, and just cap off your gas line and wire it in.

This is a mistake. Won't come close to a proper functioning gas heater.

Some utilities will 'help you change' from gas to electric or vice versa. Utilities have charged me for connection service and given me a 'free' tank. They make it up on monthly usage bill.
No matter which way you go, a 50 gallon HW tank has 50 gallons. If unlimited HW supply is your determinant, then go tankless... and gas would be better.
One thing about gas HW is you have HW during power outages. Here on the coast, that is a BIG plus.

You need a gas tankless water heater. Never ending hot water. Get one from a supply house like Coburn’s and not Home Depot. Will cost you less than $1,500. Will greatly improve the value of your home and you will love it. You can get unlimited hot water up to 10 gallons per minute (4 faucets on at once).

This applies to tank type water heaters, not tankless
