ULA to launch CST-100 Starliner Friday,July 30.

ULA has a terrible record of on-time launches, but we kinda want to pop down to view this one. Anyone else here planning on trying to see it?

I want to get the feel the heat package at KSC, but not willing to shell out the dough for something I have so little confidence happening over the weekend.

Probability of weather-related violation currently at 60%...

Is this SpaceX? SpaceX is currently the only billionaire space venture I support. So if not, I'm out.

I plan to watch it from my balcony whenever it launches - as I do all FL launches. If the launch is scrubbed due to weather, it might be rescheduled 24-48 hours later (Sat-Sun). If a technical issue w/the vehicle causes a scrub, the delay could be weeks or months until the anomaly is understood and resolved or deemed to be an acceptable risk.

ULA has 144 consecutive successful launches in part due to their rigorous weather condition constraints. ULA, Boeing, Aerojet-Rocketdyne, and NASA have tremendous financial investments in this mission and will not launch until all technical and weather issues are "go".

I wouldn't hold my breath. That damn thing was supposed to be in rotation with SpaceX for over 2 years now. And they have yet to have a successful launch, while SpaceX has been humming right along. I would get a condo in Cocoa and watch from there, not worth risking the KCS watch package money

I don't disagree. We've done the beach-watch for some launches, but we have a spot where we go now that we like. Parking, bathroom, food nearby in case it's an all day affair. Good news about a scrub is that you can still have a day at the beach.

When Falcon 9's land at KSC, we love being on the beach near Jetty Park-ish. Watching the landings are as cool as the launch.

Delayed to Aug 3.

Glad I didn’t leave any earlier in the day. We were literally about to leave and turned on live stream to learn the Russians farked up everything.

Man no one seems to care about this at all. The starliner subreddit averages one post every 2 weeks. Today the day of the launch there is one post with maybe 3 comments.

I've tried to find out info on this an no one is covering it or talking about it. Complete 180 from a spacex launch.

Found one guy tweet that if they don't figure out the mechanical issue in the next week then it could be about a 3 month delay until the space station is available agian

Found a forum on the nasaspaceflight page that is ok. Lots of spacex haters on Twitter, it’s hilarious… accusing them of scrubbing more often than ULA?

Launch delayed twice and now indefinitely. Years behind schedule, meanwhile spacex literally built a rocket and booster this week, mounted 35 engines, and may fly within weeks…

I guess this explains why I couldn't see the Starliner as published with the Space Station sighting opportunities last night..

This entire project is a disaster for Boeing. Time to cut it and start over. Let the hungry new guys take over all of these duties. Instead we will keep throwing money at it. Decisions like this is why our space programmed floundered from the late 80s to the early 2010s.

Yep. Cracks me up they do all of this, only to scrub, while the other guys are building rockets out in the open using welders that were working on grain bins a year ago. (not really, but you get the point). It's not an easy watch, but the Everyday Astronaut spent 2 hours with Elon the other day, it's pretty interesting to see how he thinks about things.
