Much of that 1-A district was moved up into AA in 1981 or 1982. We played against that Curtis team in AA in 1981, against Reggie Dupard. We had only 180 students, however, since we were an all-boys school, we had to play up.

Our district 1981-1984 consisted of Newman, Northshore, Buras, Port Sulphur, Belle Chasse, River Oaks, John Curtis and us, St. John Prep.

1979-1980 we fit under the number and played in a little known, short-lived district called the Pelican Prep. League including a number of those schools in Got Blaze's list. That league included, iIrc, Franklin, Ridgewood, NOA, Lutheran, Life Academy, First Assembly and Crescent City Baptist.

I disremember Fernwood.

Schools like that should form an alliance and team up to form a program.

they do that in other states, but the LHSAA doesn't allow that. they would have to merge into one school

It is. They opened in 1982 or 1983, and only had freshmen and sophomores.

I graduated from St. Martin's in 1986 and played football, baseball, wrestling (State Champion ) against those same district teams... Ecole, Country Day, Crescent City, Newman, etc.. Pretty sure Ecole won 2-3 State Championships in baseball from 1982-1985. Have lots of friends who graduated from EC.

In the early 80's we played against Ganus, Ben Franklin, Belle Chase, Port Sulphur, Boothville-Venice, Fernwood, New Orleans Academy, Lutheran High, and River Oaks Academy. My FR year STM we were in the same district as Curtis 1A and I remember playing against Reggie Dupard (SMU)and Greg Dubroc (LSU). It was definitely one of those 59-0 type games

For those who remember River Oaks, Fernwood, and NOA, you're old like me

2a district.. not 1a yes EC won 3 state baseball titles. NOA and River Oaks two schools I hadn't heard of in a looooong time Oil bust killed ROA.

actually they kinda do in a way, their were kids at PBS that wrestled for another school. FWIW - the principals not the LHSAA quell it though

Why can't you comment on something you insinuated?

Being tired of rules is not the same as breaking them.

Now that you said that, I'm going to start thinking everything he did was on the up and up.

And of course now he doesn't have to worry about them anymore

We beat Curtis in '72. Both of us lost to Port Sulphur so it was 1)Port Sulphur 2) Ridgewood 3) John Curtis with only first and second going to the playoffs.

We went up against eventual State Champ Terry Roybiskie and Second Ward (now West St. John) in the Bi-Districts and got our shite pushed in 48-0 or something like that.
