Nate isn't mad Ted got HC he was grateful to Ted for making him a coadh. He was spiteful that Ted asked Roy to be a coach. He even said it "you made me feel like the most important person in the world then ignored me". That's referring to making him a coach then ignoring him for Roy.
Fair point, Ted becoming HC worked out for Nate when Nate got promoted, but later in his rant he called Ted a joke and said that Ted wouldn't have won any games without his help, then Nate said that this didn't just fall into his lap, he earned it (implying Ted didn't earn his position, obviously true).
People aren't going to be sympathetic to Nate because of his badly damaged personality and spiteful life choices, but this story is a nice reflection of reality. Despite the unusual premise (that Ted was hired so the team would fail), there is a good lesson here that life isn't fair and people often choose likeable people (even when they are less accomplished) over those with the best CV. Politics is the most obvious place we see this, but we've all seen head-shaking promotions or awards at our places of work. People with crappy personalities are always the most resentful, because they know they aren't likeable, so they feel that they should only be judged on their work.

I thought the point in the actors post about Nate yelling at Ted in their first interaction was interesting. At first it comes across as the trope of a socially awkward guy who takes things too seriously.
Now in retrospect it comes across as a very insecure guy who lashes out at people anytime he has authority over them or not inferior. He’s always hated the new equipment manager. When he has a landing spot he finally lashes out at Ted. When he thinks he’s fired he lashes out at the person he thought was his former boss.

Nate’s fall began with the advice from Keeley and Rebecca.

Frick Nate! Him being a jackass to the new equipment manager, literally trying to make a person in his previous position feel small, showed how fricked his mentality is. I thought the forced apology to Colin after Beard called him out might help him turn a corner, but when he threatened the towel boy after the Jersey joke, his coming betrayal was obvious.

I just came on this thread to say "frick nate"

Next season should be great!
I’ll be honest. I think much of Nate’s rant toward Ted was a channeling of things he wanted to bitch to his own father about. Problem is, he doesn’t have those balls. So he has Ted as the proxy since Ted was kind of the father figure Nate wishes he had so when Roy joins staff and gets Ted giddy, it feels like a fatherly betrayal.
Nate has father angst he’s been too much of a coward to address directly.

They did a weird time lapse at the end that went past many conclusions to the storyline. I'm sure they will back track but I would have rathered that done differently.
Someone on twitter made a point that the 5 days, 3 weeks, 2 months IS the inverted pyramid of the soccer strategy and title.
Also apparently Trent Crimm and Dr. Sharon Fieldstone will be back next season, and we can only hope that Sassy Smurf will be seen more than once in a blue moon because every episode that has her in it is instantly made better.

Nate is a bastard and I hope he is slaughtered next year with West Ham

I think they’re saying Richmond played a 5-3-2 game.
5 defensive backs, 3 Mids, and 2 forwards. At least, I think that’s what they mean. The false 9 where a forward drops back into the MF.
Edit: it’s technically be that they’re playing with 3 Forwards with the striker dropping down to play MF rather than the traditionally attacking role.

Has it been discussed how far offsides tart was at the end. I mean it wasn’t even close

I thought so too, but I also think the offsides rule just might have changed from the eons ago when I was playing kid's soccer. I think the offensive player who first touches the ball cannot be past the last defender until the ball has been kicked, right? Still, it looked offsides to me, but that might have been the editing.

West Ham will 1,000% beat Richmond in their first matchup, only for Richmond to beat them in the FA Cup or the final EPL matchday in the season finale.
