Missouri will vote Texas in. Oklahoma will not separate from Texas, it's a package deal.
Like hell it is.

How am I mad? I'm not the one who' has convinced themselves of something that's not going to happen. A&M and Missouri won't vote Texas in. They got out of the Big 12 when they could just to get away from Texas and how they want to run the entire conference. That leaves just one more to prevent them from joining. Alabama and Auburn won't, Florida won't, I doubt we would.
The SEC divides up the money the teams make equally among all the schools in the conference, something that Texas seemingly can't or won't do.

3 votes eliminate any addition. Texas A&M and Missouri will vote no to Texas.
They need 11 votes to get in, so 4 would need to say no to block it.
Aggy, Mizzou, and Arky are probably 3.
But I don't know if there is a fourth.
Funny how the three former conference-mates of Whorns will be the ones who want nothing to do with them.

The story is that Texas is ok with giving that up as well as giving up LHN. My guess is even if they get an equal share, they believe it will be more than they are currently giving from the Big XII / LHN deals.

I thought it was 4 myself but a friend of mine that's in sports informed me today that it only needs 3.
Not saying it couldn't happen but I the way it was explained to me makes it sound like it's a slim chance.
Not pretending to be some sort of insider or anything but my friend is pretty well informed so I tend to believe him.

Like I said, don't shoot the messenger.
I saw that today when I spoke to my friend. I also saw a Twitter post saying something to the contrary.
What it comes down to are who's going to vote them in.
I think OU could get the votes but I don't think Texas would. Their choice at that point would be, do they stay in the Big 12 or try a different conference?

Texas and Oklahoma aren't separating in this transition.
Texas currently has an open invitation to the ACC, I'd imagine they'd invite Oklahoma too.
Texas might be down in Football right now, but they did win the Directors Cup this past year, you know, the award for the most successful sports program in the NCAA.

I honestly would hate to deal with Texas. But I live in Austin too and being able to see LSU in town every other year would be epic !

You keep saying this. They're two completely different universities. They're going to separate if the teams in the SEC vote for one and don't vote for the other.

I'm aware of that yet you said this will be a done deal as did another Texas fan.
I'm not trying to be rude or anything but you're essentially 'confirming' this will happen based on what some guy said on Twitter and like I said earlier, I saw something to the contrary.
Who knows but I don't see it happening from the way it was explained to me face to face and not based on what some guy posted on Twitter but it could happen.
Who knows. I have my doubts about it happening, at least as far as Texas is concerned.

It is a done deal.
This was your question, so I was answering from a hypothetical stand point.
"I think OU could get the votes but I don't think Texas would. Their choice at that point would be, do they stay in the Big 12 or try a different conference?"

Based on what some guy said on Twitter or are you still speaking in hypotheticals?

Possibly hypothetically but I would think the teams in the SEC would vote for OU before they'd give Texas the nod.
Only way I see it happening is if 'super' conferences start forming.
