re: Good places to live in Jacksonville, Florida

My son lives in St. John’s county. Fruit Cove to be exact, he likes it. I’m not sure about apartments down that way though. Like someone else said, JAX is a very large area, St. John’s is south. Working on the north side would make for a miserable commute I would think.

Lol Gump. Jacksonville is thriving and the Jacksonville Jaguars are changing things around the downtown area. The Jacksonville Landing is finally gone and things are moving fast to make downtown a destination. Places to live near downtown for a younger guy is the St. Johns town center area. The closer you get to the beaches the more expensive it gets. Real estate is crazy right now the more south you go in Duval county the more expensive it gets but you may find something doable in southern Duval for renting or small starter home. Forget St. John's county its to crazy expensive. I am getting off work now but will add more when I get home. Welcome to Florida and a top notch governor and a thriving state

For someone who has lived in Jax my entire life, if he will be working in downtown Jax, DO NOT take public transportation. Private vehicle is what he needs. Yes, Nassau is very nice, so is St Augustine and the beaches if he does not mind the commute but there are nice places to live in Jax. Ortega is also nice (as long as he lives on the NAS side. I lived there for 8 years and loved it. You cant beat living 5 minutes (walking) from mansions on the river. Also, have him check out St Johns, FL and mandarin. I know a few people who live in St Johns, FL (not St Augustine) and its a nice area and mandarin is still nice. I would recommend the area I currently live but I'm not giving up that location.

tell him to get a place on Amelia Island, the JAX has some nice areas, but it is absolutely worth the commute to live in Nassau county instead of Duval...
You think a recent college grad is affording a place in Amelia? That's like recommending them lunch at Bob's steak & chophouse.

Is public transport good for commuting or is a car required?
I give this a 7/10 for troll quality.

I guess the Hill Country under my location went straight over your dumbass head.
Just because there is an Alabama "A" next to my name doesn't mean I live in Alabama.

This!
If working downtown then maybe riverside area or even look into North jax like Yulee area. Do not rent downtown. Should be reasonably priced small rentals. If he is a single male he should be fine.

Pretty respectable summary. If you go orange park, avoid the parts closest to Jacksonville.

30 miles west and he could be in God’s country! Baker County! plenty of land and only a 25 min drive to work….

The Beaches area, San Marco, Riverside to start. Bunch of other up and coming areas too. If he likes suburban life, try along Hodges which is 8 min from the beach

My parents live in Baker. Completely agree. If you want to live in Baker, you need to own a home. No rentals worth it.
