I've got a relative (new college grad) who will be starting a job in Jacksonville, Florida in August. He's going to be looking for a one bedroom apartment (moving from out of state). Does anyone have any recommended areas to focus on (or to avoid)?

tell him to get a place on Amelia Island, the JAX has some nice areas, but it is absolutely worth the commute to live in Nassau county instead of Duval...

Jacksonville Beach or Atlantic Beach although AB has gotten more expensive

Says the guy living in the shithole of a state called alabama.

To answer your question near the beaches is best. Atlantic/Neptune/Jax beaches. St johns county is great but expensive. If he is working downtown, southside its probably best to live close because traffic is pretty bad unless he is allowed to determine his hours. Jacksonville does have some bad areas like most big cities but it has alot of great places to rent/buy as well.

St Johns or Nassau County. Tough time to buy in either though.

Jax is terrible.

Where's his job located? JAX is a huge, spread-out metro.

Savannah proper has two styles: Old and overpriced. Old and shitty. Pooler and Richmond Hill are nice enough but Pooler is your typical copy and a paste master planned soulless outlet mall town that’s infested by Yankees.

As for the question, find some maps that show the city’s demographic, crime, and average home price statistics and maybe the voting habits if that’s important to you and you’ll have your answer.

Go to the beach. Deal with the drive.

I work in Jacksonville but live in St Augustine. It’s about a 40 minute drive for me but it’s not that bad. Ponte Vedre, Jacksonville Beach, and south Jacksonville are good options.

I believe the job is located smack dab in downtown Jacksonville.

Is public transport good for commuting or is a car required?

This!

I live in St. John’s county, 15 minutes from the beach, and out of Jacksonville. The area I live is growing at a crazy pace, causing home prices to go through the roof. Ponte Verda, Nocatee are also great options.

I guess the Hill Country under my location went straight over your dumbass head.

Just because there is an Alabama "A" next to my name doesn't mean I live in Alabama.

fricking idiot.
