I’m not doing well. For 19 years, i have taken medication and occasionally seen a therapist but it’s been rough lately.
I’d love to hear about others overcoming these dark times and how you manage it.

Exercise does wonders for my morale.

You need to be in therapy consistently. Don’t drink or do drugs. Exercise regularly as well. Get good sleep at night.

Decided to do things in my life that made me happy. Decided to lose weight and eat right. Decided not to take meds for it. Decided to own my life and cut out bad stuff and bad people and man up. It sucked at times but it was all my decision. Made decisions that made me happy and did stuff for me. Maybe it was selfish but I never took away from my family so im ok with that. I took care of me.

Mine was post partum so it was a bit different but I went to therapy, got a special infusion at the hospital made just for PPD and I started working out. Also having good sleep helped a ton. I had a really hard time with my pregnancy (was on bed rest due to hemorrhaging, and super sick) then had a pretty traumatic birth (baby came almost 6 weeks early and then spent weeks in the NICU).

Exercise and a retreat into the wilderness to ground yourself to your Earthly tether. They do these wonderful spiritual retreats that changed my life for the better. I’d highly recommend them if you have the time.

Exercise bro. Disconnect from media, internet, and negative people. Eat healthy and drink plenty of water. Take vitamins. You dont give yourself much credit. Your mind is powerful....use it!!!

Buy a quality heavy bag, not that Everlast crap. Get two pairs of gloves, 10oz for one day peppering the bag with speed and alternate next day with 16oz sitting down on your punches. Hit some shite 4 days a week and your depression will fade to black.

Ween yourself off the meds and drink more. Exercise as others have recommended, do what you enjoy more often. Go punch paper if that’s your thing, it works for me regardless of current ammo prices

I know depression is serious and its not something that can just be fixed overnight.. But there is one thing that I think is often overlooked is vitamin D intake.
Are you in the sun a lot? There are a lot of issues associated with not getting enough vitamin D. If you are not outside a lot.. Make an effort to get outside more. And take vitamin D.
I would start there. I know people will say "its not that simple", I am not saying its a fix all.. But I promise you it will make a difference.
There was a period where I suffered with depression. During that time, I found out I was vitamin D deficient. My doctor asked me if I was experiencing depression, that's the first time I admitted it.
A change of environment helps. Being around people you enjoy being around helps. Sometimes you have to force yourself to do these things, but as much as possible try to avoid being alone with those feelings. I know its easier said than done, but it helps.

Getting in shape helps. Maybe workout with others or get in to some sort of social club as well. For me being alone was a problem.

Get outdoors, soak up some sun, focus on a hobby and the things you enjoy. Start enjoying the moment, if you're a spiritual guy, explore that.

Exercise, eating well, etc. are great things to do...for everyone. Depression goes far deeper than that. Unless you have experience those things do NOT correct depression. It's a very sad disorder for people to struggle through. Chemical imbalances, severe grief, etc. make life miserable.
I sincerely hope the OP gains ground in this struggle.
Lastly, God loves you no matter who you are, what you've done, or what's been done to you.
