Natural History museum in Houston is a whole day if you have never been.

New Orleans for the WW-II museum and the Aquarium. The Quarter is still a damn good day drunk experience.

Best stop in my opinion would be the Naval Air Museum and Blue Angels practice in Pensacola. I have been a 5-6 times and even though it is free, I would easily pay $50 to go again. Its that good.

Not San Antonio.

This is your best bet if it weren’t for being a short distance from West TX. Austin is as trashy as San Fran, Houston is a concrete jungle, and anywhere east is boring (Lake Chuck) or asking for trouble (BR or NO).

At this point, throw at a dartboard and see what comes up.

I hated my time in SATX. As I said, I'm jaded, but spending 15 m9onths in that hellhole soured me on it.

Compared to the others I think it’s paradise. You can do whatever you want downtown without worrying about getting mugged (NO), and it has an abundance of culture culture and charm, unlike Houston.

But I’ll respect your opinion. To each his own

Traveling from west Texas to the Florida gulf coast. Wife and I would like to stop on the way or way back and spend a couple nights for extra vacay time and split the trip up.

You are going to spend a day at the Mobile tunnel. Bring tents and a picnic lunch.

Just don't sleep under a table in a roadside park, you might wake up dead.

Find a Buc-ee’s and camp in the parking lot.

The Louisiana crowd is really excited about them. Must be some kind of vacation spot with an amusement park, a beach, and a casino.

This for sure.
Plus there are other things you can do around there depending on your interests.
Mobile is only 50 minutes away which has the USS Alabama exhibit which the walk through is a must see.

Bogalusa is one of the shittiest towns imaginable, but is a vast improvement over W Texas.

If you are going as far as Panama City, there is a cavern in Marianna that is cool. But you sound like city folks because you only mentioned big cities. Hope you have fun.
