Could we end up with someone worse than Bianco?

My biggest fear is that when the winner of the head baseball
coaching sweepstakes is revealed, we might end up with someone that makes me wish it was Bianco.

Bianco, was a good recruiter and can take his team to a regional every year, a super regional once in a while and a CWS once in a blue moon. For teams not named LSU that is a reasonable coach. However, there are plenty of coaches worse than Bianco out there.

We ( Woodward not withstanding ), have always had the tendency to do worse than our potential when hiring coaches.

With Alleva, hell yes.
With Woodward, not a chance.

I don't really see how. If it came to that I would go get Gautreau and still feel better about it.

I don’t think so.

Any decent coach can make a regional regularly. We just did it after a pretty mediocre season.

Bianco’s career at Ole Miss would be a worse case scenario.

1 CWS over 20 years at LSU. Even if you picked his most successful 10 year period it wouldn’t be good.

No. Blue moons occur about once every 2.5 years.

We could also end up with someone a whole lot better.

Possible but not likely. Kinda like getting a stroke after age 50.

No, not with Woody. Even if we end up with an up-and-coming young assistant, we're doing better than Bianco.

LSU HAD a guy who was better than that. However, they forced him out because their expectation and goals are higher than

Is there a risk they could a "worse" coach? Sure. But you accept that risk when you are trying to improve. You don't just hire a good who is good, but not good enough, simply because it mitigates your risk. Otherwise, they would have just kept Mainieri

Could we? Obviously that is a possibility.

Will we? I'd say unlikely. My opinion is we end up on par with at worst.
