Memphis might suck but its still better than Jackson and I'd rather live in Memphis than other cities I've lived in like Los Angeles, Seattle, and San Diego.

Chat Town is too good for Tennessee, its a shame. Although that interstate merger is Louisiana level of fricked up.

Less like a rivalry and more like a resentment. Memphis plays 3rd fiddle to Nashville and the Smokies.

Memphis more so belongs to Mississippi culturally speaking than it does Tennessee despite it technically being in the state of Tennessee.
It’s the unofficial capital of Mississippi.

Used to be. Memphis has FedEx, Autozone, International Paper, and a few other big employers. It had major potential but they made a lot of the wrong moves 20-30 years ago.
Nashville has since surpassed Memphis and is probably going to rival Atlanta in a decade or so.
I lived in Collierville for 4 years and loved it. Memphis has some serious problems, but there's no shortage of friendly people there. Awesome zoo too.

If it is, it's not a very competitive one.

WW Herenton & Harold Ford.
Oh, and fook the Oilers/Titans. Most of all, fook Nashpatch too.

They hand always hated each other. Instead of a north vs South rivalry Tennessee has a west vs East thing

Nashville may rival metro St. Louis in a decade, not Atlanta.

The only rivalry I could imagine is which of these two cities have the lamest skyline.
Both just slightly more impressive than Baton Rouge's

Two of those skyscrapers in Memphis are abandoned, and at least one is condemned. Don’t think Nashville (or Baton Rouge) has any like that.
Despite that, I like the way Memphis looks from the river.
Baton Rouge has a decent little skyline with the riverfront. I think the days of new office towers are over for a while. It will see some new mid rise hotels and apartments, but no more skyscrapers.

How about posting a recent picture of the Nashville skyline? There are like 20 new buildings miss from that photo.
I grew up in Memphis and live in Nashville now. There is definitely a rivalry. The state hates Memphis bc it’s a tri state city. The rest of TN doesn’t like funding the city bc it claims the money isn’t going to TN. I love Memphis and it definitely has some charm but overall it sucks. The food scene sucks, the nightlife isn’t great and the city is extremely spread out. The poster who said Memphis is nice but most people stay bc family connections is certainly correct.
Nashville is a transient city now but in 10 years will rival Atlanta.

And Chattanooga, Johnson City, and Bristol aren’t?
Memphis, while having some redeeming qualities is generally pretty terrible. Chattanooga wasn’t anything great twenty years ago. The state and city really made some impressive moves.
Memphis…well, as another poster said, Memphis is more comparable to Little Rock, Jackson, or Birmingham than Nashville.
It could be worse though. Nothing is as bad as the Union City and Martin areas of the state.

Memphis - Black ghetto Democrats
Nashville - Woke White Democrats with just enough money to think they count.
Both would make excellent locations for a surprise government nuclear test site. HEY...Dems love them some gubmint.

STFU, swamp boy. We ARE Tennessee.

Stay the frick off our interstates, mud bug eater. You obviously have neither the balls nor driving skills to navigate them. NOTHING in Tennessee is "Louisiana level of fricked up".

Well, okay...Memphis is probably "Louisiana level of fricked up". I'll give you that much.

The state hates Memphis because it is a corrupt, ghetto dump.
