Do you draw any conclusions from the way that Ohio State was handled pretty decisively in the last two championship games?
COACH CARROLL: No, not really. They played great teams. They were big time matchups and they went the way they went. I don't think that that took away from them being championship teams and a championship program in any way. They came right back roaring and had great seasons right after it and all that. But in those matchups, you know, just didn't go their way.

But it wasn't because they tried to be conservative or they held back or anything. They went after it very aggressively in their attacks and their preparation. They went after their opponents in a way that they had planned to win those games and thought they could. You know, admirably so. You know, unfortunate for them they didn't get their wins.

I don't take anything away other than they played two great football teams and couldn't quite get over on them.

Translation: Florida beat them by 27, LSU beat them by 21, so we will do everything in our power to beat them by at least 28.

I wouldn't say that giving any love... i think that was just a typical politically correct coaches response.

He did show a little respect, but I mean you got to when you know we have two balls and he only has one.

I think the real translation is:

I gotta pump OSU up as a program in order to try to salvage some kind of strength of schedule respect cause we got NOBODY else that is worth a flip.

Frankly, I don't think LSU is on his radar in the least. Other than maybe some films of the BCS CG, no love or hate, just ambivalence.

And we shouldn't be, just like you shouldn't be on our radar...this USC-LSU thing is pretty sad IMO

If he hasn't scoured over film of LSU picking apart OSUs D, then he is an idiot. And, I really don't think he's an idiot.

You're right, I'm sure USC doesn't care about LSU going to the 'ship in '03. Not on Carroll's radar at all. Whatever.
