If equal outcomes (equity) will be assured by the state, what motivation exists?

Subject.

I would like to hear from our local equity enthusiasts how people are supposed to be motivated to work and/or be exceptional if the state all but guarantees equity of outcome.

This is a good-faith question. Equity of outcome isn’t conceptually a bad thing from a certain view of morality but I’m struggling to see how it works without bringing down the net standard of living of the entire unit as a whole due to decreased output and effort of the citizenry.

How do you get people to work hard when it doesn’t matter without the threat of violence?

Morally, I see your point. It is like sunshine, puppies, and unicorns.

IRL an impossibility. As you point out there is zero motivation. It does not take into account human nature and the propensity to be a giver or a taker, which would (and has historically) ended in disaster.

I’m not going to take equity seriously until it is applied to all races and settings.

No football team can have more than 2 black players on the field for any play.

No basketball team can have more than one black player on the court at any time.

Rand pretty much nailed this in Atlas Shrugged.

The owner of Twentieth Century Motors dies. His three heirs inherit the company. Their first act as new owners of the company is to pay everyone the same wage...everyone. What happens next is just human nature.

The motivation to rely on the State for everything. This is the goal of the Communist Leftist filth. To make the State your God.

As Thomas Sowell said, how can we expect equal outcomes between strangers, when siblings who grow up in the same house don’t have equal outcomes?

An interesting example is the lack of signs on main streets in Cuba. There are no signs like 'Jose's Cafe...Half Price Tuesday!'
The reason is that owners don't give a shite. The state pays them the same whether you come into their cafe or not. Hey, signs just cost more money.

There is no reason to think that this will happen so the incentive to work hard remains

I think it could only happen far into the future. Say 100 years or so. At that point the state wouldn’t need so much out put from citizens when nearly everything is automated.

The countless examples of inner city cycles of poverty where people live off the government for generations isn’t reason enough for you to think this will happen?

Equity is a false front meant to garner support from the more-numbered lower classes. But the people in charge certainly don't want equity, they want power. The members of the Politburo and the Khmer Rouge didn't stand in bread lines. The urge to save or fix society is simply a ruse to control and rule over said society and its people.
