Tim Corbin should be our first call. Then McDonnell. All other candidates are uninspiring

Woodward needs to make Corbin an offer he can't refuse. He is the first option we should pursue and the kind of homerun hire Woodward is known for. Offer him a boat load of money and if he says no, fine. The next best candidates (If Sullivan has truly been eliminated) are Schlossnagle, who just got hired by A&M, and McDonnell. Both have 5 CWS appearances each. We need to go hard for McDonnell.
If we can't get him, that leaves us with some pretty uninspiring options in Bianco and Godwin. Godwin has never been to Omaha in 7 seasons as head coach. (Even Mainieri went to Omaha prior to LSU). Bianco has been once in 20 years. Vitello has done nothing prior to this season and will likely get to Omaha this year but Woodard allegedly doesn't have him as a candidate.

Hire a guy who’s almost as old as Mainieri. Good plan

I would take Corbin in a second, but it's not gonna happen. He likes it here at Vandy and he has recruiting advantages with financial aid. Hopefully Cliff Godwin and ECU take out the Vandy boys this weekend.

LOL @ thinking we can offer Corbin anything to leave the situation he has at Vanderbilt
We cant compete with their gravy on top scholarships they can give to not count against the limit to an ivy league-esque private school.

Tim Corbin might be the most overrated coach in baseball. Their scholarship advantages are an absolute crock of shite.
They have had a top 3 recruiting class for like 10 straight years, including #1 the last 5 according to PerfectGame. He has far and away the most talent in baseball on a consistent basis and has for maybe a decade. (Florida is up there this year, but not as deep)
It's like praising a dude for winning a sailing regatta, but he's the only one allowed to have twin 400s on the back.
ETA:
He's a good coach who has it absolutely fricking made in his situation. I'm saying he's overrated simply because everyone thinks he's the best out there, when in reality there are 10-15 coaches that would do what he does with those advantages.

$$$$$ - LSU can offer huge $$$$$
And LSU brings in the talent so recruiting is not the issue.

Corbin turns 60 this year, gets paid plenty, is the defending national champ, and will probably be in Omaha again this year. He ain't leaving Vandy.

LSU cannot recruit with Vanderbilt because of their scholarship advantages, look at the rankings. And Vanderbilt pays Corbin a shite ton of money, it just isn't public. And he lives in Nashville instead of Baton Rouge.
He will retire in Nashville as he should. He'd be an idiot to leave.
