jesus some of these people in this thread are fricking idiots and have zero clue about finances or how taxes work.
btw if you are a so called conservative and you are upset that Bezos paid zero in income taxes, well.....you are not really conservative.

Unless someone can show me where something illegal was done I have no problem with it. I also get tired of people that don’t understand the difference between taxes on capital gains, and taxes on income when saying people like Buffet get to pay a lower rate than one of their employees.

I get that Bezos doesn’t get a bi-weekly paycheck to pay taxes on like me. But there is something fundamentally wrong when the richest man in the world pays less income tax than me.
Do you usually get swindled by the main stream media?
Trust me, Bezos paid way more “TAX” than you, even if he paid less “income tax” one year.
You understand there are different types of taxes right?

If you are doing all you can to screw the United States government from taking more of your money, then bravo.

Meanwhile on Mars…….I worry about me and mine. This whole justice equity perspective is tiresome.

There’s no simping. There are just some people who recognize cherry picking data when they see it.
There is no difference between this story and their usual story of “black people are being disproportionately killed by police”. Did you just accept that narrative or did you do some research into the facts?

Any time Congress passes a bill with more than two pages, you can guarantee that we are getting fricked.

Also Buffett is such a hypocrite. He’s always out there saying high income should pay more taxes and he’s paid the least out of all of them.
The us treasury welcomes donations warren.

I have no problem with the rich people themselves. If the IRS created a mechanism whereby I could avoid paying income taxes, you can be damn sure I’d take advantage of it with a clean conscience.
But I’ve certainly got a problem with the tax system itself. It’s okay to criticize a clearly counterintuitive system without that criticism extending to the people who abide by that system.

Pretty interesting food for thought. By using lines of credit to finance their lifestyle, the uberwealthy essentially avoid the tax system altogether. Increases in income and capital gains taxes will have essentially no impact on the Bezos's of the world because they can time paying off their obligations when they have capital losses from other investments to absorb capital gains used to pay off the loan.
Getting rid of the step up in basis and increasing estate taxes will likely result in the uber wealthy paying even less taxes. If you have 100 million in your estate, under Biden's plan you'll pay 45% estate tax, leaving $55 million. Then another 43.4% in capital gains on that $55 million, leaving $24 million, for an effective 76% tax. Why pay a 76% tax when you could simply give it to a charity, or a charitable foundation that your family runs where you control 100% of where the money goes.

Simping for Bezos?
No, reading a hack article advancing a hack narrative.
When you see the below graphic (cited by the article), do you conclude that Bezos paid no taxes?
Or do you conclude that he paid more taxes than any other US taxpayer ?
