One of the girls was more concerned about her missing mobile phone. They reportedly used a taser to try to steal the vehicle. This was murder and armed robbery. It highlighted the rising crime in the city, which had at that point experienced almost 100 carjackings in three months. And yes, the liberal media mostly ignored this story since the perpetrators were black. The local media, per usual, kept on the story (via Fox 5):
The 13-year-old girl involved in a fatal carjacking outside of Nationals Park in D.C. has pleaded guilty to the murder of an Uber Eats driver.
She and a 15-year-old girl have been charged with felony murder and armed carjacking.
The 13-year-old pleaded guilty in juvenile court to second-degree murder in the death of 66-year-old Mohammad Anwar. Other charges will be dropped.
The 13-year-old girl will be released when she turns 21.
The 15-year-old suspect pleaded guilty to felony murder last month. Her sentencing will take place Friday.

Initial reports were these violent criminals were going to walk. Glad to see that isn't happening. They need to sit in prison for a bit, without a phone...maybe they will actually regret killing a hard working man.

I'm glad they're caught, but the sentence certainly isn't justice. Just my opinion.

They should toss their parents in jail, too. I have a 13 & 15 year old. What those girls did didn't come naturally to them.

So just 7 years for the 13 yr old..and she won't even be in a real prison.
Those two should be imprisoned for life. That level of malevolence won't just go away after they stay a few years in kiddie jail. They will most likely kill again,

Hard to fathom a 13 year kid being so atrociously stupid.
Even harder to fathom that the DA wanted to give her 1-2 years only. I hope the family gets their pound of flesh in other ways.

Sad dose if reality... juveniles don’t go to “Shawshank “ type prisons. They go to places like Bridge City where juvenile inmates run the damn place, assault personnel working there with zero ramifications, and have zero locks on their dorm rooms.
