One of the worst shows I've ever tried to watch.

It was a great show and I think the highest rated for a few years but...

I didn't really understand why it was SO popular among middle-aged married couples.

Nagging wife, busy-body Mother-in-law who lives next door, mooching brother? It would be like Bethany Hamilton saying Jaws is her favorite movie.

You realize that they were sister series right? Doug and Ray were friends and would occasionally appear in the others show. So you have seen characters of both shows if you've watched every single episode of Kings of Queen. Probably why they look like "identical twins".

Also, I don't know why, but every time I hear the song "Jungle Love", I think back to the episode where the electricity goes out during a snow storm. The episode ends with the 3 adult couples dancing to the song. I don't know why, but that episode has just stayed with me.

That was in season 6. The song was later used as the opening credits music in seasons 7-9.

I recently heard Steve Miller on Marc Maron's WTF podcast, and he mentioned it.

Marie's Sculpture is definitely a classic.

Or when Frank and Marie get kicked out of the Villages.

When Ray left Debra at the house and went to the party without her.

“arse in seat! Or your gonna get left.”

And he was so proud of himself,... until he realized, what he’d done!

I don't frick with anyone who doesn't love this show. It's one of the better sitcoms ever.

My two favorite episodes are the one when Debra dresses all trampy and where Ray, Frank, and Robert pretend to go to therapy and go to the race track instead.

One of the Greatest Sitcoms of All Time. Debra was a saint. I'll fight anyone who says otherwise. I mean, look what she had to deal with.

Favorite episodes were the Frank centric episodes. My goodness that guy was funny.

Some of those family arguments would get a little uncomfortable especially some Frank and Marie fights but that's what made it so good. They loved each other through all of it. Great actors.

The Fork and Spoon episode. "When did we get those?"

In fairness to Debra, she did have some crazy people both in her house and across the street.

100%. Everyone always comes down on Debra but who wouldn't go insane if their spouse just let their annoying family and friends roll into the house whenever they wanted? Raymond has zero spine when it comes to his family and it can't be easy to deal with a bunch of inconsiderate, know it all, loud mouth, sad sack, jealous, neurotic in laws practically living in the house with them.

I never gave cbs shows at that time a chance being I was a big ABC and NBC sitcom person at that time. When I started watching Everybody Loves Raymond and King of Queens years after, holy shite they are funny. My son started watching it and he loves it. I love when Amy’s brother Peter makes an appearance on the show.

Debra is probably the only likeable character on the show. Incredibly over rated show IMO. Aging terribly.

What’s to understand?
It’s a sitcom about an Italian American family and how the in-laws are overbearing.

Curious to know the comedy sitcoms you like

Situational Comedys I enjoy:

Seinfeld
Cheers
The League
Frasier
The Office
Parks and Rec

Parks and REc and The League will probably not age well.
