True, but I still think we get in, Cohen be damned. FSU got in Martin's last season with a much worse rpi. Let's see.

I figure it's a done deal, whoever our next coach is, and they'll announce the day after both Paul and our new coach are either both bounced from the tournament or one wins it all. There is NO WAY that Mainieri retires, forced or otherwise, without Woodward already having his successor in the bag before Paul publicly retires. Woodward wouldn't risk firing Mainieri and getting left without a coach and Paul wouldn't leave LSU in the lurch by leaving before his replacement was on board. Coaching matters aside, the man loves LSU.
Now that Paul has made the announcement putting the issue of his future to bed, Woodward lets him ride out the end of his last season with no further distraction from the university and the coaching carousel and then as soon as everyone involved has finished what they are going to do this season, the new era starts immediately after.
It's how professionals work. Compare and contrast this with how Dicknose ran coaching changes.
God, I still hate Joe Alleva.
