He won the CWS in 2017 with a team that hit like .230 in the post season. He’s someone who can win it all even when things aren’t optimal for him and can beat you in different ways. But he’s not the buzz name right now so the Rant doesn’t like him. Bear in mind the Rant wanted to hire every OC and HC from any mid major football program who won the ESPN Thursday night game for about a decade straight.

Can he build an elite roster that isn’t composed entirely of in state players? We know some others on the board can, we also know that O’Sullivan has more skins on the wall than those guys.

He was what Vitello was 10 years ago. The cocky abrasive frick you guy.

He’s matured, as Vitello will too as he ages.

I’d love to see what he could do with recruiting here - especially pitching. He’s done incredible at a school that doesn’t give a shite.
Hes in Florida. Totally different animal here.

Just asked a buddy the same thing. That said, I don’t think you can go wrong with him, Vitello, McDonnell..

I am not worried about anything recruiting related with the LSU name on the jersey, no matter who the coach is. Especially with a guy with his resume’.

shite he would probably pull more kids from Florida with the connections he has. LSU has not hit Florida hard at all, traditionally.

I know you've discussed this ad nauseum but I just compared the two rosters. Every player on UF's roster is from Florida. UT has players from 15 different states, Puerto Rico and a freaking Aussie.

Didn't you say that he wasn't your number 1 guy?

Couldn’t the same be said for LSU Ell? May not have the talent the state of Florida has, but brand recognition certainly plays a role.

I personally think Sully would be a solid hire but he isn’t on my top 3 list. I feel he has a little PM in him.

The issue isn’t drawing interest, it’s the luxury of navigating the 11.7 without having to allocate dollars to out of state tuition. He obviously has it down to a science at Florida, the dynamics are different here.

Only because he’s a douche

I mean you can make a case FL has been the program of the last decade. I just don’t understand “at least as good as Florida”. There isn’t anything better than that lol

Of course there is. An up coming guy that's younger could come in to a place like LSU and win multiple titles and be here for longer than a guy at Sully's age.

If Florida is a top 3-5 program in the country as you say, why can't LSU be the number 1 program in the country?

We could do wayyyyy the frick worse than Kevin O'Sullivan. I'm sure people will melt because he's not the shiny new toy everyone wants. But he's made Florida a perrenial power with little to no fan support. I think he would get us back to the top with the quickness. And it's not like he's some geezer. He's 52

I mean he’s as shiny a toy as is out there. I think some just have different preferences. But hiring a guy who’s been to Omaha more than anyone coaching right now and a national title, yeah you’re not going to find a better resume. Hiring Vitello or Godwin isn’t the shiny toy but the risky young hires that have potential to be huge

Because there is too much parity in CBB

There really isn’t a consensus number 1 year to year,. You just need to shoot to be in that mix
