I would have anyone looking to explore Metallica's catalog start with their self-titled record and then make their way backwards through Justice, Puppets, etc.
That's the path I took and it's helped me to appreciate all phases of the band's career.

Areosmith is one of those bands that reach a maximum listening point and you never want to hear again...much like the eagles and "hotel california". i want to punch a hole through my radio whenever that comes on.

im not a huge fan as well but i think the title track Toys in The Attic is one of the best rock songs ever written . Stephen Tyler is a very good song writer . I own that album and Aerosmith "Rocks" which is my favorite

Yes - The Yes Album
Led Zeppelin - IV
Queen - A Night at the Opera
Rush - Moving Pictures
Van Halen - Van Halen
Black Sabbath - Heaven and Hell
UFO - Strangers in the Night
Peter Frampton - Frampton Comes Alive
Cheap Trick - at Budokan
AC/DC - If You Want Blood (You've Got It)
U2 - The Joshua Tree
Pearl Jam - Ten
Rage Against the Machine - Rage Against the Machine
Mostly really boring picks but I wanted to say that for some bands I think a live album is the best introduction.
Also I assume Heaven and Hell would be controversial since people associate Ozzy more with Black Sabbath, but Heaven and Hell was my introduction to the group so that's how I see them.
