My grandfather announced their death on the air in Shreveport. He and another guy pretended to be on the scene and acted horrified, complete with sound effects.
Pre TV media bullshite.

Clyde went into prison a petty thief and came out a hardened criminal. Bonnie was from a poor, but law abiding family. She was smart and a hard worker with no criminal record until she met Clyde. She was mostly just along for the ride.
Clyde was a killer and armed robber, but his most notorious crime, the murder of two Texas highway patrolmen, was almost certainly committed by someone else.

So like the George Floyd of the day?
Today's DOJ would have charged all of the officers involved with violating Bonnie and Clyde's civil rights.

Should have been a tip-off to B&C that something was up.

Well, they pretty much did. It was an extrajudicial killing and you don't get to do that no matter how heinous the suspect. IIRC the plan was to give them a chance to surrender but one of the posse got trigger happy.

Them BAR's do mangle a body bigtime.
They're murderous thieves. They got what they deserve.

What makes you say "almost certainly"? I know no one saw them do it, outside of a farmer who probably wasn't very close, and they were dead when the other officer got there. They did later visit and stay with family in the area who said they talked about being involved in the murders. They were regularly in that area, too. Do you think the actual killer was the other member of the gang with them at that time? There were two guns used in the murder, though. Or, do you think it was someone entirely unrelated to B&C?

He had a difficult time in prison because he was small. One big guy repeatedly beat and raped him. Clyde caught him alone and beat him to death with a metal pipe. Yeah, it’s fair to say that prison hardened him.

Well we have a George Floyd Square now...

I think the only thing to mark where they were slain is a small marker on the side of the road.
Two markers. Not huge, but big enough.
I stopped there last July on my way to California. It's in the middle of nowhere.

The Texas Rangers did not take prisoners. Putting a Ranger on your tail was a death sentence.
