Sounds like the Bulldogs play at 9:30 am on Wednesday next week, so I guess we need middle of the afternoon and likely Dinner recommendations. Haven't been to Birmingham in ages and past dining was always business dinners on the company tab.

Y’all staying in Hoover? Willing to drive to different areas in town?

This isn’t right around the Met, but Diplomat Deli is a great lunch spot in Vestavia. Probably 15ish minutes from the Met. You also are about 20 minutes from The Bright Star if willing to drive.

Tres Luna is a nicer upscale restaurant close to the met. Lots of good eats around Birmingham. If you are into craft beer, Back Forty has a fun vibe and good food.

Happy to give more recs if you have specific tastes and areas in mind.

Anywhere is fine. I'm not hesitant to drive if needed.

I was never impressed with Bright Star. May take a look at Diplomat.

Another really good spot in Vestavia is Snapper Grabbers. Half seafood market, half cafe.

If you do end up at Diplomat, the turkey rueben is delicious!

Depends on what you like. Lots of good spots. The Trace Crossings area right by the Met has a bunch of new spots that are lunch worthy. I’d hit Big Whiskey after the game for lunch and drinks if it’s adults only. My girls love Melt. If you’re into Thai the best is in a converted gas station called Blue Pacific. Shonos is great for a quick fresh hibachi lunch. Farrely’s or Firebirds for dinner. This is all if you wanna stay in the Hoover area. If you’re willing to venture further can get more creative.

Best food you can get will be where the motor homes are. LSU fans will feed you.

The Essential on Morris Ave. in downtown BHM. Well worth the short drive for dinner or brunch.

If you like fine dining, Helen is the newest place getting a ton of buzz. We went late last year and it was incredible. Also for fine dining, Bottega and Highlands Bar & Grill have been turning out great meals for a couple of decades now. Highlands is probably already fully booked though.

For more casual, most of the breweries in town have food trucks every day/night, if you're into beer. A few are brewbups and have their own kitchen - Back 40, Monday Night Brewing, and Ferus. Ferus is in Trussville, so a bit of a haul from Hoover. Back 40 and Monday Night are in the downtown area.

The Diplomat Deli rec is good, though their best menu item is their chili which I don't think they do this time of year. Nice patio there if the weather is nice, and good beer selection. For a better sandwich I prefer Ore Mercantile in Avondale. They offer Italian style sandwiches.

Couple of decent pizza options - Slice and Post Office Pies. The Slice in Vestavia is pretty close to Hoover Met, and is better than the Lakeview location. Also for pizza, there's a Tortuga's in Hoover. It's Chicago style pizza, though I think they make other styles.

I don't know the Hoover Met area all that well, so no recs for that area.

Mr P's deli is on shades crest road and is a good choice for lunch. Saws bbq in Homewood and the already mentioned Diplomat are also good choices.

If you like good, cheap, Mexican food, go to Amigo's on Lorna Road in Hoover, not far from the Met. Lunch menu prices end at 3, and happy hour is from 2-7, so if you hit that sweet spot from 2-3 you can eat and drink really cheap.

Mr. P's Deli in Bluff Park for lunch/sandwich.
Tip Top Grill in Bluff Park for burgers and dogs with a great view of the valley.
Jake's Soul Food on 150. Get the ox tails.
Tortuga's Pizza on 150 for the best Chicago style pizza outside of Chicago.
Blue Pacific on Lorna for Thai.
Silver Coin on Lorna for Indian.
Pollo Lucas on Lorna for some amazing chicken.
Archie's BBQ on 31. Get the cheeseburger.
The Diplomat on 31 in Vestavia for sandwiches.
BistroV on 31 in Vestavia for fine dining.

Hoover has all your standard chain places as well. There are many more options if you are willing to go to downtown Bham or out to other suburbs.

And if you want a decent sports bar in the area, On Tap outside the Galleria is decent. I have found it's a bit of a polarizing place though. Their food is just okay, but the wings are good and they have a huge draft list. I've never been but have heard it can get really crowded during the SEC tourney though.

On Tap is pretty good but my sports bar go to has always been Baumhowers. They moved from Hoover to Vestavia but it's not too far from the Met...15 mins are so.

Yeah, it's been pretty good at the new spot too. My kids were at the school right behind there, and I had to drive by all the construction for a while when they were building the Baumhower's and Dunkin Donuts, then they got moved to a new school and I didn't even get to swing by and get them donuts in carpool one morning since it wasn't finished yet.

Ate at Roots & Revelry recently. It's downtown. Upscale place for dinner for sure. LINK

Had 6 people eating and pretty much everything we got was phenomenal.

The Conecuh dip was awesome, as was the Tuna tartar.
All the entrees were great, and the sides that came with each were great.
