All of my buddies in Monroe that are hard core golfers are members at Bayou Desiard CC. I think the draw to Squire is WM and obviously Ruston but I know Calvert pulls a bunch of WM folks and even some Monroe folks that don’t want to join BDCC. So my take is Squire may be tapped for luring existing residents unless they just moved to Mecca.

Yeah, if you are big in the Monroe scene you're probably out there for social reaaons. I know some people that are members at both. There are quite a few members out at Squire from Monroe though.

It's way, way cheaper. It's fine for what it is. The golf course is fine and stays in pretty good shape, but it's not anywhere near the club that Squire or Desiard are.

$5000 initiation and $210 a month if you're inside 300 mile radius. Outside 300 miles it's $1890 annually.

Pretty solid deal IMHO.

Ya. I was thinking of splitting it with 3-4 guys. If we go out 2 or 3 times a year, it averages out to be a pretty cheap little golf trip.

Or maybe you get 16 guys to pitch in upfront. Each 4some gets one trip a quarter. Not sure of the logistics, but I'm intrigued.

What? You’re thinking about splitting a golf membership? That’s not how that works.

There would be one actual member who would "host" the other guys. All dues and fees would be split between the group.

Good luck with that. They’re going to catch on, not to mention there are going to be guest fees and probably limitations on a non-resident members guest privilege.

So much wrong in this man. It’s an exclusive private club. You either join on your own or you don’t. Even if you did this.....the member would have to be with the group every time. You can’t rotate 4somes, lol. Guests playing without the member would pay the unaccompanied rate of 180ish (roughly...can’t recall exact)

Some good information in this thread. I grew up playing BDCC in Monroe. John Pruitt was my coach for most of my (short) golf career.

NELA is very lucky to have Davison and Squire. He doesn’t turn a profit out there. That place would cost a lot more if it were run like other CC’s.

I live in Madison MS now and the two best courses over here are Reunion and Annandale. Both aren’t even half the course Squire is. Both cost way, way more. Hell Reunion is $20k down, day 1, non refundable initiation. Pushing $500/month. Annandale is $600/month.

Hopefully Squire can keep up wha they do after Davison moves on.

Catch on to what?

I seriously doubt there are any restrictions on how many guests a member can bring out. There are restrictions on how many times one person can play as a guest per year (5). Guest fees are $100 and have been figured into the equation.

A member can sponsor an unaccompanied guest twice a year, but that’s not a situation that I’m proposing.

If you split dues with other people and they find out they're going to revoke your membership.

Disregarding all of that this sounds like a good way to lose friends

You are like a store manager for H&R Block not the membership director at Squire

Exactly this. This is completely against the spirit of a private club; it’s not resort golf. If this is your approach hopefully they have a restricted membership process to weed this type of bullshite thinking out.
