Ya I guess I meant that it wasn’t this big mainstream issue that had to be addressed

I agree with OP - last summer all the black kids that I played ball with and was friends with on Facebook all these years suddenly got all angry and started ranting about systemic oppression and all the racism they dealt with in Metairie growing up. Was really strange.

The only thing I even vaguely remember that was semi legit is this one girls dad wouldn’t let one of these guys date his daughter. But you’d think they grew up in Jim Crow south the way they moaned about Trump and George Floyd and the south and how awful they had it. Really not true - they were happy kids and we all got along really well for like 20 years.

It still doesn't need to be addressed, hell in the south you have thousands if not more interactions among different races a day and nothing happens

That’s just your privilege talking. Racism is worse than ever! Black people have it as bad or worse in this country now than before the Civil Rights movement. Just ask black people and white liberals!

That it ends up on film with camera phones is kind of a game changer that it’s harder to casually dismiss folks that want it addressed

Also mid 2000s you might recall some dislike of Muslims being pretty popular content.

The dynamic has surely changed but it’s not like racial issues didn’t exist then. I’ll agree white folks were much less effected.
