Yeah this is a tough one. Age of child, how old am I, how old is my wife, does life go back to complete normal almost immediately, etc.

If you had a child you’d know the answer before even asking it.
I’d kill whomever or whatever I had to as long as I was able to, to make sure my children lived.

Honestly, you wouldn’t have a choice. Gubamint would take your child quick fast on learning someone was resistant.
I wouldn’t turn my child in and I would try to keep her safe, but it’s hard to beat the government.

If it’s literally the world ending, I’m guessing the kids dying, just without becoming a zombie first.
So the choice is if you know your kid is dying, could you make the call to save everyone but know it’s a choice you made or do you let it happen passively with everyone else.
I think most people would save the world, eventually. But either decision would wreck a man.

Do you have children, and can predict the future like you’re suggesting?
Remember, a little over a year ago there were supposed to be millions dying, bodies in the streets, and the entire world was to come to an end, bc of some virus that was originated from a wet market in China.
You think I’d sacrifice one of my children under the guise of if you let them die, you will save all of humanity???

I have no children of my own but I wouldn't think twice about sacrificing one of yours for the good of humanity. Hell, two or three of them, even, kids suck.

In the hypothetical that is the basis for this post all the major cities have been overran already and there are only a few surviving colonies hanging on when the decision comes up. The proposal is that finding the cure would allow humanity to begin to reestablish itself
