Not sure if this should go here, the OT, or the Food & Drink Board.

Will be here for 5 days at the beginning of June for work. Hours will be pretty flexible, for the most part.

Where should I eat and drink?
What should I see and do?
Any areas to stay in and/or avoid?

Not sure about bar or restaurant specifics but you should see if the Trash Pandas (AA baseball) are in town. First real season in Huntsville would probably be fun to check out.

Campus 805

1892 East is really good as is Commerce Kitchen

Didn’t care too much for Connor’s. It felt very chainy

Food wise - purveyor, la esquina cochina, commerce kitchen, big oh's, jack brown's are all in walking distance of each other downtown and good options.

Embassy suites is a good spot to stay.

What about neighborhoods? Right now, I'm leaning towards an Airbnb. The only reason, and I may be off here, is that I'm not expecting too much to do and/or see in Huntsville. Thus, I'm expecting to maybe hang around the rental more and I would prefer to be in a more "homey" environment than a hotel.

Friends live in the Five Points neighborhood and I really like that area. I don't know much about Huntsville though, other than their little area. Close to downtown, right at the bottom on Monte Sano.

#1 thing to do is obviously the Space and Rocket museum. Probably soe decent rails in the area to hike.

Prichard's distillery is 45 minutes away, Jack Daniel's is a nice one hour drive away, and George Dickel is an hour and a half. Sewanee THE University of the by God South is also just a nice drive away.

Downtown area hotels or an airbnb is the best to stay. Also cabins on Monte Sano. LINK

Lots of great trails on Monte Sano to explore. Bring your mountain bike if you are into that.

Food pretty much what the guy said above, and I would add Domain South and Church Street Wine Shop to that list. A few others in the area as well Poppy and Parliament, Beerzs or something like that. I've heard good things about those but I have not been.

Walk around downtown, nice historic area with great houses.

I'll just go ahead and second pretty much all the recommendations so far.

I'll add Cathedral Caverns state park to the list of things to check out that are within an hour's drive.

The Space and Rocket Center is pretty much the only thing I'd classify as "must see", but the parks and distillery tours others have mentioned are all great.

Campus 805, Stovehouse, Yellowhammer Brewery/Earth and Stone pizza, are all great fast casual places for a bite and a brew.

I think the only thing that North Alabama is known for in terms of culinary contributions is White BBQ sauce. Hushpuppies with white sauce are pretty damn good, the best place for that is Greenbrier Restaurant or Gibson's BBQ. Those places are pretty average for BBQ though. The best BBQ place in town is Chuck Wagon, get a two meat plate with brisket and hot sausage.

If you play golf, hit me up. I’ll take you to one of the private courses up here.
