How is snapchat responsible for this in any manner?

Three young men got into a car in Walworth County, Wis., in May 2017. They were set on driving at rapid speeds down a long, cornfield-lined road — and sharing their escapade on social media.

It's always someone else's fault....

Kind of like Ma’Khia Bryant's mother suing the foster care system for not bringing up her daughter right... Irony at its best..

This sucks because there's legitimate cases in the court being delayed because of frivolous shite out there like this.

the 17-year-old behind the wheel accelerated to 123 miles per hour

one of the passengers opened Snapchat.

It was one of the last things the trio did before the vehicle ran off the road and crashed into a tree, killing all of them

It’s like suing a lighter company for an arsonist starting a fire.

Seems like having a feature that specifically encourages dangerous driving is probably not the smartest thing to have in an app like that.

Our President is dead set on making it legal to sue gun companies for criminals actions. The fact that this will reverberate across all product liability is apparently beyond his limited mental capacity. People WILL be suing lighter companies for arsonists.

What if it's purpose is to encourage kids to try to run fast? Will they then be sued because a kid has a heart attack while running?

Except it’s on a social media platform to share with others so it’s not. If it was “literally” the same thing, why would they have the filter?

Well hell, they should sue Apple then for having a camera in front of the phone.

Why does apple have a camera on their phone if it's the same thing as a Canon camera?

While I do believe in personal responsibility, tech companies like snap chat spend billions of dollars figuring out how to make their algorithms capture as much attention as possible.

So while this certainly doesn't seem like a winner, I am all for lawsuits like this being brought so that we can hopefully start delving in to how the algorithms are developed and with what intent.

It has been pretty minimal thus far in terms of people challenging the underlying social media algorithms and the role they play in influencing certain negative incidents, only way to change is for more and more lawsuits to be brought.

Tech/social media companies are deleting people and posts off their platform because they feel they have a responsibility to protect people. If that is the case, then it seems they failed here and should be responsible.

Pick one.
