The parents allege that Snapchat's speed filter entices young people to drive at astounding speeds. And the federal appeals court said Snap should be treated like any other company that makes a product that can lead to injury or harm to consumers.
By that logic wouldn't the car manufacturer also be vulnerable because they allow their cars to reach 123 mph?

Can we sue Ginsu because knives entice people to stab? That last sentence seems like they're trying to use this as a segue into gun control.

Snapchat doesn’t kill people. People using Snapchat’s speed filter while driving 123 mph kill people.

personal responsibility doesn't exist any more.

it HAS to be someone else's fault.

This is a terrible terrible analogy. How many people have died each year from running really fast. Now how many people have died from driving really fast.

There's practically no risk from sprinting. There is, however, a whole lot of risk from speeding.

You're missing my point. The point I'm making is, the filter doesn't necessarily HAVE to be used to show how fast a car is moving. It could be used to show how fast a person is running.

I'm fully aware that car crashes kill more people than running.

Which is completely irrelevant.

No? It's the entire point. The intent for the use of the filter is not to see how fast your car can go.

It's to measure speed in general, and there's nothing inherently wrong with that.

It’s a filter on a social media app, it’s not a tool to check speed of your vehicle. The majority of people using this aren’t fricking running while filming themselves on snap. It encourages nitwits to brag about how fast they are going to all their audience on snap chat and TikTok. I’m not saying that Snapchat is liable, but you’re being purposefully ignorant.

So why aren't you using the filter to drive fast and send it to your friends?
