I really expected Zach Von Rosenberg to end up on an NFL roster, but it doesn’t look like he’s even been able to sign as an UDFA. Punts well deep, goood at targeted punts, athletic. His age shouldn’t really matter at that position.

It doesn’t really matter for him specifically in terms of play, but when you’re a team and your signing rookies out of the same piles, it might matter to you that the potential career length of that player is already atleast half that of the other prospects you’re looking at, whenever the talent difference in your evaluation is similar

He will sign somewhere but I do believe his age hurt him from being drafted.

punters don't really get drafted that often too. He'll have his shot!

I know a team in Louisiana that can use his services.

Think they have a couple punters already to compete. Both young though, one is a rookie and other was on their IR last year as a rookie.

I know we love ZVR, but I’m not sure he’s an nfl punter. Career average of 43.95 yards per punt. Not great compared to the pros. He hit some long ones, but not consistently. Then you have the age factor. I hope he gets a shot though.

There are only 32 punting positions in the NFL and dudes can punt till theyre 50.

Its probably one of the most competitive gigs in sports.

Brad Wing wasn't drafted and he was a much better punter. He did get his chance though and played for five years in the league.

I believe he led the nation in % of punts inside the 20 in 2019. He was punting from good field position and trying to pin the other team rather than bomb them. That likely hindered his career average quite a bit. He could fairly consistently hit them over 50 yards if he was backed up.

I love ZVR and everything he did for LSU, but there were other punters in the draft that can also punt into they are 40 and they are 21/22 years old. If you are an NFL team which one are you taking? There was only 1 punter drafted and ZVR wasn’t even a top 5 rated punter in this draft class.

Don't know how old you are, but the Saints drafted one in the first round about 40 years ago

Heres a bit of mind blowing trivia....

How many years has it been since the Saints took a QB in the 1st round?

I'm old enough to remember Russell Erxleben. Probably the best college punter and kicker ever - 3 time all American in punting and kicking. Drafted in 1979 first round #11 overall by the Saints. Was a total flop in the NFL. Not getting to use those kicking tees made a big difference.

I heard Hester say this morning it was 50 years since we took a 1st round QB. That's insane to say out loud.
